He is exactly what they have wanted in a Cena replacement for years.
Clean cut babyface, good with the press, very good with the kids and the make a wish stuff. Gets the loudest reactions by crowds week in and week out.
It feels insane to play with that and potentially ruin it. Especially when you held off a year ago.
Crowd's are either are going to stick with Cody but turn on the product because they feel he is getting stiffed for real, or they will cool on Cody. Both options are bad for business
Yep, they just told us he doesnt matter.
It reminds me of hotshotting Bayley's title win against Charlotte the month before instead of giving her the title win at Mania. It destroyed her for a long time.
This could have a major major negative impact on not only Cody, but the hot run WWE has been on.
If there is booking infighting and politicing, it just screams WCW to me. In a very bad way.
All the good of HHH's booking work, the build up, all of it could be thrown out the window.
And that's not to say Rock-Reigns isn't a compelling match. It's monstrous, but of all the ways to get there, they went about it in the absolute worst way possible.
You minimized Cody. You minimized the World Championship. You minimized Seth. And you minimized winning the Royal Rumble and the 2nd biggest event of the year all in one shot.
That is a failure of spectacular proportions that I don't think I've ever seen before. It's that stunningly stupid.
And to sit there any say oh its to make more money. The event is streaming on Peacock, its already sold out. They've already had their advertisers pay. They've already sealed the netflix deal. What other money is there to be made?
Nothing of this makes any sense whatseoever.
