I can’t stand Cody, but i still think they did him dirty. This week. I also think it’s best if he loses to Seth. That shouldn’t be the ultimate prize for him, and if he wins again it kills Rollins, especially when Cody inevitably chases Roman again

He is exactly what they have wanted in a Cena replacement for years.

Clean cut babyface, good with the press, very good with the kids and the make a wish stuff. Gets the loudest reactions by crowds week in and week out.

It feels insane to play with that and potentially ruin it. Especially when you held off a year ago.

Crowd's are either are going to stick with Cody but turn on the product because they feel he is getting stiffed for real, or they will cool on Cody. Both options are bad for business

Well not what HHH wanted. It does sound like Dwayne has the backing of some of the TKO higher ups and the Vince shit has spooked them hard.
I have to think most involved with WWE support Trips and his vision for the product and long term storytelling.

I hate when higher ups who know nothing about wrestling start making wrestling decisions.

Akin to NHL owners trying to make hockey decisions.

Yep, they just told us he doesnt matter.

It reminds me of hotshotting Bayley's title win against Charlotte the month before instead of giving her the title win at Mania. It destroyed her for a long time.

This could have a major major negative impact on not only Cody, but the hot run WWE has been on.

If there is booking infighting and politicing, it just screams WCW to me. In a very bad way.

All the good of HHH's booking work, the build up, all of it could be thrown out the window.

And that's not to say Rock-Reigns isn't a compelling match. It's monstrous, but of all the ways to get there, they went about it in the absolute worst way possible.

You minimized Cody. You minimized the World Championship. You minimized Seth. And you minimized winning the Royal Rumble and the 2nd biggest event of the year all in one shot.

That is a failure of spectacular proportions that I don't think I've ever seen before. It's that stunningly stupid.

And to sit there any say oh its to make more money. The event is streaming on Peacock, its already sold out. They've already had their advertisers pay. They've already sealed the netflix deal. What other money is there to be made?

Nothing of this makes any sense whatseoever.

So we're on the same page...is most of the outrage about the trip more so than the destination? In an alternate universe where The Rock wins the Rumble then maybe Cody wins EC, if Cody/Seth is the direction they end up going, then you have the same destination of Rock/Roman and Cody/Seth however you don't have Cody winning the Rumble then ceding his story to let The Rock fight Roman.

I would have been disappointed because I do like Cody, but at least Rock winning the Rumble would have made more sense this way.

In less than a week we had Cody win the rumble, stare down Roman, I'm coming for you. And then go nah, never mind.

In an alternate universe Cody never starts this whole story about finishing his father's journey to holding that title. Cody never gets involved with the Bloodline. Never recruits Jey to Raw. Never wins the Rumble and calls out Roman.

An entire year's worth of building up to this moment where fans have eaten it up marking for Cody (I personally can't stand his character) and Rock just shit all over it in 5 minutes.

Some, I would still be on it because it still shits on a year's worth of booking, but it would make way more in the short term booking wise.

Cody gets screwed in both situations, but this current one he is much more overtly screwed and it comes across almost mean spirited.

And I don't think that was the intent here, like I don't think anyone is maliciously trying to f*** Cody over, but it sure was the impact.

If they relent and do a triple threat they are going to fall ass backward into a big payday. Cody is a bigger babyface then ever now.

Have Seth dress Cody down on Monday telling him this isn't the Cody he rode with all year or battled with a torn pec. He wants to see the real Cody and tells him to sack up and go kick Roman and Dwayne's ass.

Just triple down on Cody, do the right thing

Or have Punk come out and rip Cody a new one and tell him not to let what happened to him happen again. Go get your main event and finish the story.

If Seth is the one to deliver that message then he definitely needs to add a little self confidence and cockiness to it. Otherwise it might seem like Seth is running from the match. That’s my only change or addition.

“If it’s my title you really want then let’s do the damn thing, but come correct cuz the torn pecs gonna feel like a hangnail when this is over.”

I agree though. Having Seth or Punk not just hype up Cody but also shit on his cowardice in the same promo would work.

Throw in a Dusty reference to get him misty.

Hell hire Arn for the day and have him cut the glock promo again.

The Vince scandal and CM Punk being injured threw a wrench in the booking.

Rock/Regins should happen but not for the title.

This is going to hijack the programming until Wrestlemania. They better have a better plan than this.

This is exactly what needs to happen. Punk should come out and say "once upon a time, I said it wasn't sour grapes but the fact that Dwayne was in the main event of Wrestlemania made me sick."

Should tell him not to let Dwayne do this again and if he truly wants Roman, go and pick Roman.

I dont care if Cody ever wins or not but if you set him up for rare as f*** double rumble wins in a row and pick Seth who he won 3 times already. And have Roman shit on "loserbracket" title I have no clue what you are doing  Seems incompetent booking more than unlucky that Punk got injured.

The hope now is WWE sees this negative press and pivots with a good plan. I think the company is super lucky that:

1) This went down before Elimination Chamber

2) They still haven’t had Priest cash in yet

There are ways to fix this but I don’t have confidence in WWE to do the right thing now.

The Rock with a message last night. The cut off part of the tweet continues ...creates chills every single time. Thank you Birmingham, Alabama, we made magical history in the “magic city”. Thank you WWE and thank you Cody for the love and the house (dream & soulman).Roman, there’s only one head of the table. I’ll see you in Vegas…Uso.

Wait, Uso? Was he trying to talk like the Bloodline and say Uce but for some reason said Uso?

edit...someone replied that uso means cousin but I stand by the question. It seems in real life the Usos may think of Reigns as more of an uncle than a cousin but technically Reigns and Rikishi are cousins so Jey/Jimmy/Solo are second cousins or cousins once removed or whatever you what to call it to Reigns. It seemed they only used the word uce when referring to each other, never uso, so even if The Rock is correct it still seems wrong, lol.

For reference it seems The Rock and Reigns are distant cousins...The Rock’s grandfather, 'High Chief' Peter Maivia, was blood brothers with Reigns and The Usos' grandfather Reverend Amituana'i Anoa'i.
