:eek3:

So it was LA who was the other team trying to buy Capfriendly but they let Washington have it in exchange for taking PLD. Only way this makes any sense for the Caps.

What a disaster of a trade for the Kings though. How the hell is Blake suffering yet another season?

0% chance PLD plays out his whole contract in Washington. Eventually he will be bought out or some sucker team will acquire him.

Kudos to him having an agent that got him that contract though that's for damn sure

It's insane how much money a lazy frustrating player like him will have made after his career ends

Or do drag out the playoffs how badly they do. A week off before the finals. Bruins leafs would have three days off between games to line up saturdays. I get viewership is important but it needs to go back to every other day
That’s a network thing, and it would’ve been the same for any of them. They should’ve made a deal in the CBA to move the draft and UFA day back a week, but people too desperate to get to their summer cabins.

Really don’t think this is bad for the Caps.

They were ostensibly paying 5 million for a guy that wasn’t even playing the majority of games, for a trade off of 3 million and some years you get an every day player. By the time the contracts no longer overlap the salary cap will have risen to a place where this isn’t horrendous.

Also the Caps are in a place now where they need to either suck hard or be great, middle ground doesn’t cut it. Taking big risks makes sense.

I like this more than acquiring Guentzel because that’s a move that makes them just slightly better, this is either boom or bust and they need to live in one of those two areas

That's because a lot of you don't understand usage and you fall for the gullible hate bandwagon parties. Paying a guy $8.5M and then 3C/15 min a game. Think about it. Caps need a center and he will get high usage.

He was a pt/game player with Connor and he was good with team Canada at the past WC's.

Kings were dumb signing him to $8.5M and then playing him 3C/15 min a game. Dubois deserves some heat yes but why are the Kings management getting a pass on this?
Maybe he did not deserve the TOI ?? He has had previous issues. Everywhere he goes.....

I did. Explain it more. I'm not guessing
Thought it was incredibly straightforward. It shouldn't take more than 8.5 million to motivate a player to do their job and not just float 90% of the game. How can you see this guy's track record and still give him the benefit of the doubt? Got a beach house in Idaho for sale...

If Dubois puts up pt/game like he did with Connor but this time with Ovi, all this noise goes away.

So why did the Kings trade good assets and sign him to $8.5M but then play him 3C spreading out their talent? Makes no sense. He's not the type to lead a line by himself.
They tried him at 2C with Fiala, they tried him on wing with Kopitar and Kempe, they tried him centering Byfield, etc. NOTHING worked, he just lazily strolled around the ice every night no matter who he played with

The managers also get paid to do a job too. Some players need to be put in the best spot to produce. Paying Dubois $8.5M and moving him to 3C is not the right management. Fans are thinking... but yeah, he deserved it! Well is that how you manage a guy you just signed 8x $8.5M? Think about it more

PLD may "bounce back" but it would never happen in LA. The laziest player in the league with a giant guaranteed contract will never work out here in LA since there is zero accountability in the media or in public.

Play like he did last year in Toronto or something and he wouldn't be able to leave the house without security.

Lombardi came in here and made it a point to not be a place where guys came to just live at the beach and take it easy. Unfortunately, he was replaced by the King of the Beach himself in Rob Blake who has mostly built a take it easy team with PLD being the zenith.

The Capitals recently purchased capfriendly.com

So the new truth is that Dubois has 1 year remaining on his deal at $3.5M

He will be better than what he was on LA because he's going to play 20 min's a game instead of 15.

Why is there not much talk about how the Kings managed usage with him? They traded for a center when their center depth was good, signed him to $8.5M but then played him 15 min a game in a 3C role. Just weird. And no, don't try to say he deserved it. That's not how you manage someone you just gave a 8x $8.5M contract and has a history of fading when he don't play with talent.

Not trying to defend Dubois the full amount. He deserves some heat yes. But man, this popular bandwagon hate party towards Dubois was out of control when it was also mixed in with ignorance. Not much thought process into the context
Dubois literally played with everyone. He played himself down the lineup. The coach they fired said he doesn't know how else to connect with him.

Trading a player 1 year into an 8-year contract Blake as a GM agreed to should outline how colossally bad it was. Feel free to accuse PLD detractors of being ignorant, but he was worse than even what the bandwagon "haters" expected.

Assuming Backstrom and Oshie are both on LTIR and the Caps can bridge a deal with McMichael for 3.75 they will have around 11.5 million in cap space. Interesting that they have 2 #3 overall picks as their top 2 centers and didn't draft either one of them.

Wouldn't have ever seen this one coming, WTF?
Blake got hit with the first bullet but he dodged the other 7.

Nice to see this trash player gone. He's a terrible example for the youth and the whole team, complete dumpster fire of a player. Hurts to lose Vilardi and all the accessories from the old the deal, but what's done is done. Blake had to cut out the cancer somehow.
