I wouldn't know .Last time the Habs were in the playoffs they embarrassed
the Jets in what was it ...4 straight games.

And you lost your world Class goaltender after. Do you ever stop to think that you will never get back there because he is gone and you have to deal with Trevor Timmins failed legacy? How long to clean up that mess

Clock is ticking front office. I am sure a couple more years of "rebuild" will start to look pretty sour in Montreal.

You earned your 10 spots in the draft. Big deal. Still got to prove you can draft right and I am unconvinced of that
Who care what you think. Not saying this was bad for the Jets. I think Monahan will help them a lot. Point is . We were told we wouldn't get a 1st rd pick. We said we would, we did . I'm satisfied .

Fowler is waiting in the background. I f you really think we will neve get back to the playoffs maybe you should be a mod of a different sport.
We are in yr 2 of a rebuild. Just to let you know. Rebuilds usually take more then 2 yrs. Hell some people are really sour and i LOVE it.

I never said never. I said a long long time. What you guys are doing is very difficult and a lot of fanbases that have went through can attest to that

This is why are know your not in hockey operations. You are putting you stock in a kid who is years away in what is the most difficult position in the game today.

Do you even remember what you post?
POST 1181.

[ Do you ever stop to think that you will NEVER get back there .]

Must be my eyes. I could SWEAR that says NEVER.

This is the best thread ever. Now we get it.
  • A WPG 1st rounder is NOT actually a real 1st rounder.
  • No 1st rounder owned by Habs is actually a real 1st rounder because they suck at drafting.
  • The ONLY reason Mtl got a (not really real) 1st rounder and a (not really real 3rd rounder) is that Van overpaid for Lindholm FORCING WPG to OVERPAY. The overpay part reeks of irony considering points one and two.
Did I summarize this accurately? LMFAO!

Typical HFBoards comedy show. And all these baiting and flaming posts even from the "all powerful" here on the boards. Total joke.

You missed one.
  • This will extend the Habs rebuild past a decade!

Whereas, the entire HFBoards hab-hating universe ridiculed Habs fans for having the audacity of suggesting Money was worth a 1st round pick! LOL
What is up with that. To be universally hated you need to actually be good. Outside of rival teams fans i would assume most posters don't give a damn about Habs.
Don't go victim complex route it always looks bad for fanbase.

Ya. WE told you so. Now PLEASE get over it.

Lot of salt in this thread.
Mostly from you it seems. It is very obvious that you were massively butt hurt and offended that some anonymous posters on the Internet were saying that all Montreal would get for Monahan is a 2nd or 3rd round pick. So much so that you feel the need to spend the last 25 hours of your life proclaiming how you are now vindicated to anyone and everyone who will listen.

Reality is these types of trades happen every year around the deadline. Montreal (not you) got what they wanted and the Jets got what they wanted. Win/win. Is there really anything in your life or mine that changes because of it? Didn't think so. Enjoy the magic beans, and the Jets will enjoy attempting to make a go at the Cup. Cheers!

We fleeced you buddy! ;) :D

If that is what it takes than consider yourself lucky because you will never be hated.

embarrassing mod behavior

After the trade^
Before the trade
I honestly don't know if Lindholm is going to get traded and regardless it doesn't really change the value for Monahan which simply isn't that high and since he won't make much of a difference why would a team give up any more or even a second rounder for him is beyond me.

The backtracking is so hilarious.
I'm not back tracking I think a first was too high and was being charitable to Winnipeg.

Also at the time of that post Calgary was in playoff contention but then fell off but enjoy your late first rounder then we can hear how wonderful that player is until they hit the NHL then not an all time great.

Steep price but this gives Bowness the option to keep Vilardi on wing if desired.
Money can play wing too. Has for us. So lots of versatility there.

Is there any chance Lambert gets a call? If so, Money is ideal center to mentor a kid like that. Smart, experienced player with skills that can compliment a young shooter like Lambert.

Jet fans and most of the board. Monahan will never get a 1st rd pick. He's not worth it. Hab fans are delusional.
Monahan gets a 1st rd pick.
Now we get post like these. So salty.
What was salty about the post you quoted. There were actual salty posts to quote - that on seems reasonable.

And considering the habs couldn’t get a clear cut first line nhler with 1st overall - 32nd will be a tougher challenge for sure.

Anyways - cheers, legendary asset management by Hughes!

As a Calgarian, I saw Monny play all those years for the Flames and slowly get injured with his play in front of the net.

But players can get better with surgery and time off and have productive second halves of their careers.

Teemu Selanne and Gary Roberts come to mind.

I would put Monahan in that category of player than say a Bobby Orr who just couldn't recover from his knee surgeries.

Another factor in trades everyone forgets is that sometimes by getting a guy, you prevent someone else from getting him...

I say this has the potential to be a Win-Win trade, which are the best kind.

It's true. But I would say the masterstroke part was getting CGY's 1st just to take him. Yesterdays trade was fair market value for Monahan, IMO.
Agreed.

Good for the Habs to take advantage of a cap issue and get paid to take on a contract. Very Phoenix like.

Habs are still bottom dwellers so trading a pending UFA is just logical.

:thumbu: Shrewd of Hughes considering Money only had a year left on that fat contract. Then we signed him for really, really cheap relative to his performance. So I hear ya, but it wasn't totally like those multi-year fat contracts Phoenix takes on. Right place and right time, I guess. Considering how desperate CGY was to sign Kadri after losing Tkatchuk.
