I see what you did thereIt would be murder to have enough crow for everyone.

You absolutely can overpay with draft picks. You can't overpay with magic beans.
Masterful job my Hughes taking on and then pumping and dumping Monahan into two 1st round picks. With the high second in the pld trade the jets move back 10-15 sports and get their 2nd line center. Montreal on the other hand extends the rebuild past a decade.
We've been rebuilding for 2 yearsWith the high second in the pld trade the jets move back 10-15 sports and get their 2nd line center. Montreal on the other hand extends the rebuild past a decade.
Dunno, but it can happen if the player was traded out of an ugly contract(say 8mil AAV) and then signs a league min contract and has a surprisingly strong season, or something. Is this the first time a GM traded a 1st to get rid of a player and then said player returns a 1st in a trade ?
Great trade for Habs fans.I expect @WhiskeyYerTheDevils will agree that the Habs Fans nailed it! Hey buddy?![]()
What an excellent analysis. With the high second in the pld trade the jets move back 10-15 sports and get their 2nd line center. Montreal on the other hand extends the rebuild past a decade.

Move back? They always had that 2nd round pickWith the high second in the pld trade the jets move back 10-15 sports and get their 2nd line center. Montreal on the other hand extends the rebuild past a decade.
Move back? They always had that 2nd round pick
Can't see that happening now.Masterful job my Hughes taking on and then pumping and dumping Monahan into two 1st round picks.
Good chance the Habs re-sign him in the offseason and do it again a 3rd time!!
HFBoards is in awe of Hughes!
Bahahahahahaha
The only way i see this happening is if Money gets injured before the playoffs and misses the post-season. In that scenario he is back to square 1.Can't see that happening now.
First off it was said Monahan was going to have a say in where he gets traded to. Who the hell would want to go to Peg?
Next it was said he wanted to go to a contender not a pretender.
So no i can't see Monahan coming back as we screwed him in this trade.
Exactly the kind of answer I was expecting. Empty.since I’m lazy I will only say, go to YouTube and watch just half of the short games from the habs this year from sport net. I’m sure you will find a few. There are quite a few games where he either didn’t want to back check or wasn’t able to correctly, his explosiveness coming out of corners on turnovers etc isn’t the greatest.
I’m afraid one good check could send him
Packing.
Historically picks in the 25-32 range turn into relevant players about 1 in every 7 or 1 in every 8.Chevy wins again. Montreal pick will probably never play a game in the NHL if history repeats itself. jets solidify an already deep team.
2 x 1sts. One to take him on and one from trade! Will say took a year but monahan got a first
No one is arguing that point. We are just laughing at those that said that Monahan wouldn't get a 1st. Be lucky to get a 2nd with retention and probably will just get a 3rd. You know the knowledgeable HF posters.Historically picks in the 25-32 range turn into relevant players about 1 in every 7 or 1 in every 8.
Thus it's a 12-14% chance the Jets 1st becomes a decent NHL regular.
I'm happy with the player that can help now, vs the player that probably will never be.
I love how the Habs-haters have pivoted to: "Well a late 1st round pick is nothing to sniff at. Chances are Habs screw it up". So let's recap:No one is arguing that point. We are just laughing at those that said that Monahan wouldn't get a 1st. Be lucky to get a 2nd with retention and probably will just get a 3rd. You know the knowledgeable HF posters.
ole ole is a member of the Habs front office for those that don’t know. For those that don't follow the sport. The Habs have been in a start of a rebuild since the hiring of Hughes and Gorton.
No just a knowledgeable Hab fan for those that haven't got a clue.ole ole is a member of the Habs front office for those that don’t know.
Didn’t get a first +? Am I reading the trade wrong?should we be spamming about all the habs fans saying lambert/barlow/mcgroarty? or after lindholm was traded that they were going to get a 1st ++
We did in fact get a +, even if the chances of it materializing is extremely remote.Didn’t get a first +? Am I reading the trade wrong?
