Confirmed Trade: [WPG/MTL] Sean Monahan for 2024 1st round pick and conditional 2027 3rd round pick (Mod warning OP)

Jets recent history at drafting in the back end of the first round is proof of it. Logan Stanley, Jack Roslovic, Kristian Vesalainen, Chaz Lucius, and Ville Heinola are not difference makers and surely not a Sean Monahan. Even if it’s a rental I’m okay with it.

We are saying the same thing. This is why Habs fans believed Money to be worth a 1st. Why the rest of HFBoards thought it was delusional is beyond me. Perhaps a lack of perspective as you pointed out.

Monahan plays his best season last 5 years.
The only question mark was his health and that's why there was a chance of him not being worth a 1st. Healthy Monahan gets a 1st pick anytime.
He'll be a great addition to Jets roster, but there is always a risk of injury with him.
I cheer for the guy to stay healthy and to have a great playoff. He deserves it after all he passed through.

Those that are saying Monahan is good defensively... well I just don't believe it. I watched him play 650 games for the Flames and defensively he was mediocre at best. Now to say in the last 74 games playing for the Habs he's done a 180..
well that's difficult to believe. Monahan has a few good qualities but being a good two way player isn't one of them.

Something I find is players get perceived differently under by different fan bases that they’ve played for because of the system they use. Montreal while not a fantastic defensive team has a very defensive system they use. So a decent amount of forwards that played there look better than they typically would in the defensive end

I got trashed here for suggesting he would get a 1st and 4th, primarily because I am a leaf fan first then habs fan second. All you have to do is look at the players history, injuries, probability charts. Then the player started playing good.
