I don't think that's what did it for the Canucks. JR has the reputation for targeting specific players and overpaying for them before the deadline which is exactly what happened. As scary good the Oilers are playing right now, I don't believe it had any impact in their move.Jeezus that 16 game winning streak by Edmonton is scaring two Western teams now in overpaying for mid talent
Lindholm does a lot of things Monahan doesn't. I think it actually makes the trade for Lindholm look a little worse from Calgary's perspective but more like the 3rd/4th should have been a 2nd lolHonestly Winnipeg made out like bandits if we take into account the astronomical price Vancouver paid for a rental as well. Monahan has been even more productive than Lindholm and the Peg got him a basically half the cost of Lindholm. Good trade.
They did the same thing with Chiarot not that long ago
Kent Hughes is great at selling and negotaiing a trade but terrible at drafting in the first round
We did get Perry for freeCanucks and Jets are getting better early in the game while Oilers, Knights, Avs, and Stars are standing pat so far. I'm sure somebody is going to be left without a date when the big prom starts.
Because he went for Monahan he has more flexibility to make another move that maybe needed. He could have gotten a better player if he added more value hell he could have went after henrique at 50% for the same package + a little extra and he provides more
Monahan makes less than half of the cap hit and is 4 years younger also....just sayinHe sure does; Henrique is a better defender and utility player, while being probably 5% less of an offensive force
This isnt 2018 anymore
You mean the Henrique who has a grand total of 13 playoff points in 28 games all of which came 12 years ago?He sure does; Henrique is a better defender and utility player, while being probably 5% less of an offensive force
This isnt 2018 anymore
You are probably right...how about you take back the 1st and save us the trouble of finding a worthless player to fill the pickThis is the 3rd time that Winnipeg has traded a 1st for a rental. The picks dealt for Stastny and Hayes were used on Sandin and Heinola respectively.
Odds are that this trade won’t mean much 5 years down the line. Winnipeg probably won’t go deep in the playoffs (based on pure probability). Montreal most likely won’t draft anything meaningful with that pick.
Age is a moot point considering both are UFA-bound this summerMonahan makes less than half of the cap hit and is 4 years younger also....just sayin
This is irrelevant to how they are playing this seasonYou mean the Henrique who has a grand total of 13 playoff points in 28 games all of which came 12 years ago?
Sure, Lindholm is better defensively but Monahan has been playing on a bottom 5 dogshit team and still producing. The difference between them is a lot less than many on this board are claiming although Money comes with injury concerns hence why I think this is a pretty fair trade for both sides.Lindholm does a lot of things Monahan doesn't. I think it actually makes the trade for Lindholm look a little worse from Calgary's perspective but more like the 3rd/4th should have been a 2nd lol
It isn’t to a GM.This is irrelevant to how they are playing this season
The conditional 3rd was a dumb add for the Jets. They won't win the cup regardless and they can't trade the 3rd until next year (after their playoff run is over). ergo. They handcuff'd the 3rd round pick and made it untradable this year.Agreed, but adding Monahan doesn't get us to the finals, so Chevy better use that cap space and add 1-2 more good pieces or this trade was kind of pointless IMO
Would everyone from the other thread prefer their crow medium rare or well done?
It's not a bad deal as Jets were desperate for center depth but feel they could have gotten a better player adding more assets but he is cheap. Hopefully it works out for both teamsBecause he went for Monahan he has more flexibility to make another move that maybe needed.
