Woof Winnipeg got bent over hard. The 3rd round pick is what he's worth. Imagine having Scheifele as your 1C and Monahan as your 2C. Even Helle can't handle that much rubber. Winnipeg done round 1.
Accept that you are wrong and eat crow. Habs fans have been right all along. You must learn to watch player before making any comment about players. We loved the way Monahan had been playing with us. If Monahan can stay healthy then it's going to be a very good deal for the Jets.

Absolutely… he’s lost touch with the teams needs.
He needs to be fired…like 2 years ago.
Anyone who would pat that for Monahan is obviously intellectually challenged
I see you have an agenda and are blinded by it. Chevy has what most agree is the toughest GM job in the league and has been nothing short of great at it given the cards he is dealt.

Nope, I clearly stated I my max was Habs 2nd and he went for the Jets 1st. Also clearly stated Lindholm was my #1 target, so on to plan B which was Adam or Sean.

I want to see what Chevy does with the Jets available cap space now, bc if Monahan is the only TDL trade then this trade is trade was pointless bc Monahan is getting the Jets over the hump. Now if the Jets max Monahan's tiny cap and use the rest of our available cap then I'm ok with it.
And you are GM of which team?

I don’t really love it for Winnipeg. Its likely a late pick. And Monahan will probably be fine.

I just think theres a better use of a first round pick. I think the aim could of been higher. I think there might of been potential of another player with term. I just think by adding a bit extra to the first, they could of got a better player or someone who could help out more than a rental.

Even if it turns out to be 26-30 overall (that remains to be seen, could easily be #20-22), that's an incredible return for a guy who - just months ago - many thought would never play again.

I get why the Jets think they have to make this trade, and I get it's not the easiest market for attracting talent. But this is an insane overpay no matter how you slice it. Panic move at worst.
A pick around 30 that more than likely turns into nothing. This board severely overrates draft picks.

Goodluck with that, Winnipeg

Fingers crossed every shift he doesn't get broken.

But being serious, Chevy has to use all the Jets available cap space, part of Monahan's value was his tiny cap hit, so if the Jets don't use that cap space then I look at this trade and think what a waste bc adding Monahan alone isn't getting the Jets to the final.

You won't argue them because you know I'm right. Hughes needs some of these draft picks to take the next step, which hasn't happened yet.

I'm not saying it can't or won't. All of them could. We'll find out.

Early returns aren't promising. But plenty of time for that narrative to change. Dach's injury history is very concerning.
Reinbacher - too early D take longer.

Dach - read attached below and inform whatever your opinion will be on Dach. Seriously read it.

Slaf - I am not going to beat that one to death. Whatever Habs fans that were skeptical about him, are fully converted. Any fans of other teams will eventually come around. That I am sure of.

You mention drafting....

Beck, Mesar, Hutson are all looking like NHLers. Have they taken the "next step" yet. Well, I am not sure they should be taking the next step yet. But, they will shortly.

Anyways, back on track. Habs fans were right about Money.

I was definitely wrong. I didn't believe an NHL GM could be this dumb now that Jimbo is gone.

Lol Hab fans doing victory laps over whats currently the 26th overall. Amazing.
Why wouldn’t we be happy?

We were paid a first rounder to take on Monahan, he played great for us, a complete professional, and now he got us a first rounder on his way out.

Two first rounders for free? Who wouldn’t be happy about that?

Not sure why you’d be so snarky over a trade that doesn’t involve your team.

Given how Monahan played in Western Canada and seemed happy there, it's possible Winnipeg uses this as an audition before re-signing him, too.

If the Jets are trying to build on what they have rolling this season, they probably are thinking this pick is somewhere in the 27 or 28 to 32 OA range. Is it really all that much if Monahan can stay healthy and contribute on a playoff run?
If he helps the Jets on their run, great. It's still a shitload to pay for a Sean Monahan.

Hahahahaha, what an overpay.. gross

I guess Habs fans seen the future, funny rhat this guy got them a first in the way jn and a first in the way out.

I wonder if he holds up in the Peg or is on LTIR in a week or so.

It's not that Habs fans saw the future. Monahan is a center who can play on the wing on any line and any special teams. He's been a leader for the club and a glue guy on every line he's played. Add his salary and he was an easy fit on any contender. It was easy to see he was valuable.

I would drive a 2 conditional 1sts to Montreal if it mean we won the cup

Agreed, but adding Monahan doesn't get us to the finals, so Chevy better use that cap space and add 1-2 more good pieces or this trade was kind of pointless IMO
