Nope, I clearly stated I my max was Habs 2nd and he went for the Jets 1st. Also clearly stated Lindholm was my #1 target, so on to plan B which was Adam or Sean.

I want to see what Chevy does with the Jets available cap space now, bc if Monahan is the only TDL trade then this trade is trade was pointless bc Monahan is getting the Jets over the hump. Now if the Jets max Monahan's tiny cap and use the rest of our available cap then I'm ok with it.

Agreed. I was ok with Sean with Habs 2nd, but I was hoping for a bigger fish using our 1st+. This is a touch more than what Jets fans wanted but also a touch less than what Habs fans expected, so that pretty well is the definition of a fair trade.
The reality is that the difference between the Jets 1st vs Habs 2nd isn’t much and should get closer after the deadline when Montreal moves more out. Especially with the drop of quality after pick 20 or so.
I’m still hoping that Chevy pulls out a blockbuster surprise for a big RD, someone with team control. Ryan Pulock, come on down lol

Monahan trade alone isn't getting the Jets to the final/win the west, so Chevy MUST use the rest of the cap space available or this was kind of pointless. Fingers crossed

If the Jets are trying to build on what they have rolling this season, they probably are thinking this pick is somewhere in the 27 or 28 to 32 OA range. Is it really all that much if Monahan can stay healthy and contribute on a playoff run?

Who could he trade for who has not Jets on the NTC? Dude Jets is be a GM mode on ultra hard mode. Prospects that dont wanna be drafted by Jets, so Jets need to draft certain players, massive NTC lists. The longer I watched Jets, the more impressed Im by Cheavy. He has shown us before how wrong we been, Remember all the flak he took for Pionk etc.
Not thrilled, but as Jets, we dont have many options.

Even if it turns out to be 26-30 overall (that remains to be seen, could easily be #20-22), that's an incredible return for a guy who - just months ago - many thought would never play again.

I get why the Jets think they have to make this trade, and I get it's not the easiest market for attracting talent. But this is an insane overpay no matter how you slice it. Panic move at worst.

Nope. I'm more addressing the hyperventilating Habs and Jets fans who both underestimate and overestimate the value of a late first-round pick. This trade doesn't move the needle at all. I'm excited that the Jets get Toninato out of the top six. Having Lowry, Namestnikov, and Toninato as your top 3 C is dreadful.
