And Here I was told in here that you wouldn't get a 1st for Monahan.....I don't get it. I thought the most brillant minds were in here. Dissapointing.

This is what happens when teams panic. They make trades like this one, and they get buyers remorse later down the road. Kinda fun to watch to be honest.

If Jets go out first round, what's highest that pick can be? Because Colorado or Dallas going to be a hard out.

Nice piece of work by Montreal, after the Lindholm trade I figured they'd get a low 1st but didn't think they'd get a 1st +

If Monahan doesn't get injured, a late first is a cheap price for Monahan. He's a second line center (on pace for 60pts), plays two ways, is big, skates well, master at face offs and is a real leader. He's exactly what team should trade for for a cup run.

Damn, NHL GM's feeding Habs fans delusions again, first Chiarot, now Monahan, next they're gonna ask 1st for Gally and manifest that one to reality too.

:sarcasm:
Nah even habs fans know a gally deal is chalked , Armia and Savard on the other hand...................:naughty::naughty::naughty::naughty:

MTL played the Monahan situation perfectly. Got a first rounder for taking him on and then artificially upped his value with good usage to get another first rounder out of him

And not a moment too soon - Tampa could really use another top-four defenseman.

I stated in my other post, max I wanted to pay was Habs 2nd (while stating Lindholm was my 1st choice), so the Jets 1st is a bit more then I wanted to pay (but not huge difference, depending where the Jets & Habs finish this year). Having said that, how I view this trade (outside if he can stay healthy) is more so how Chevy uses our cap space now. If Monahan is our only TDL trade, that would be hugely disappointing, a big part of Monahan's value is his tiny cap hit so Chevy better use the rest of our cap space otherwise big part of Monahan trade was pointless. IMO
In fewer words. You were WRONG.

Very good asset management by Montreal, however if the condition for the extra pick is a 3rd four drafts from now if the Jets win the cup, it’s essentially Monahan for a 1st. Four years+development time might as well be a lifetime in sports, assuming that pick even turns into something useful.
I expect Hughes to use that pick as a trade asset at the draft.

Bye Guentzel.. if these are the returns. Even if the Pens are in the playoffs, we could use a return like this, and Guentzel is guaranteed to net more

Hahahahaha, what an overpay.. gross

I guess Habs fans seen the future, funny rhat this guy got them a first in the way jn and a first in the way out.

I wonder if he holds up in the Peg or is on LTIR in a week or so.
