Calgary/Montreal really setting the marker prior to the TDL, prices are going to be astronomical this year for players it seems

Winnipeg got a better bang for their buck than Vancouver.
Strongly disagree. If you are looking at counting stats only then sure but Lindholm plays a muhc more complete game. I'd still take the Canucks deal over this one.

I've always wondered about the fit, so it will be interesting to see where the Jets plan to use him. Either he takes Names's spot and Names moves to the bottom 6, or they try Monahan there?

Hope the experiment works. Might allow the Jets to rest Scheifele a little more as well if needed.

See a lot of posts about Crow too. There should be plenty for everyone as for everyone that said he wouldn't get a 1st, there were others thinking he'd get a prospect like Lambert, Barlow, etc.

this is another great point and important context that many failed to consider... there's still a lot of hockey left. Monahan is playing at a level where he will ease the pressure on the top jets forwards on many nights, and give Bowness a lot more flexibility in his ice time allocations.

Extra rest heading into the playoffs for your top guys so that they can better handle the massive minutes you need from them through a long playoff stretch is a net value that won't show up on any stat sheet.

It also shows the guys in the locker room that the Jets are serious about giving them the support to go out and win. that stuff matters inside a room and inside a players head.

Chevy did very well here.

Warning - Play nice all, follow the rules, those who don't will be excused from the thread.

Good trade. Habs been asking for a first for awhile. Plus get a throw-in. Also get rid of injury concern with Monahan.

I wish I had a dollar for every post on here saying Habs couldn't get a first for Monahan. I would be wealthy man.

Hughes is a galaxy brain GM.
Hughes is great at trades and I like some of his contractual work too. Put lets wait and see on the draft picks.

Early returns on David Reinbacher are not very promising. I'm rooting for Newhook and Dach, but the book isn't written on their success either. Dach in particular is just so injury prone.

Juraj Slafkovsky has been playing a bit better of late, but he's hardly cemented his place as a 1st line star of the future.

Hughes needs to take his trade wins and convert them to draft day success. And that isn't something he can hang his hat on just yet.

Well, Cheavy has proven us wrong. But dont like trading a first for glascannon

Happy for both teams, Jets fans get something Habs mgmt failed to do for Prices career with the exception of the year they traded for Vanek, add an offensive weapon at the TDL to support an elite goalie on a team struggling to score. You won’t regret it.

Is there a memo going around that only Canadian Teams can trade?
If you have the cap I think it is smart to trade early. Get the player you want and get much more time to integrate them into your lineup with an opportunity to add more at the deadline once you see how they fit. Just smart stuff.

This is so much like Chevy acquiring Paul Stastny at the deadline just so he could feel something

So I guess inflation has hit trades now, the last cpl were expensive.

I said he was worth a 2nd rounder, maybe a bit more. But thought a 1st rounder would only happen if the GM buying him was desperate.

Looks like I was wrong.

Good of you not to be a prick about it. I can see why your fanbase is so well liked.
Come on, you saw all the people on here giving it to Habs fans on the daily. Are you surprised some are coming back to return the favour?
