Would YOU move Carlo for Landeskog?

I'm wary of overrating Carlo because Landeskog is a really good player. But come on. This kid just has a vibe that says 'build your team around me'. It'd be lunacy to trade him.

That's a bit extreme, but if he can turn into a Hjalmarsson type player, that would be swell. Great defensive player who gives 100% every game and takes some defensive pressure off the top guy (Keith/hopefully McAvoy), that's arguably as valuable as a top pairing guy. If he doesn't quite make it to that level, that's fine too. Let's hope most of our D prospects turn into close to their potential, and slot in nicely together. Promising start, but let's not count our chickens quite yet.

No

It's not every day you draft a big smooth skating defenseman that breaks into the NHL at 19 and at times looks like a pro

Landeskog is a bit overrated imo and I'm not a huge fan of his attitude, I think Carlo will give the bruins more and over a longer period

I didn't mean to annoint him as a #1 D - when I say 'build the team' I mean in a spiritual sense. He's the first of the new school bunch to make it and everything about him is so solid. If you're building a house he's the first beam. It's early days but my gut feeling is that you win with guys like Carlo in your team.

I don't believe that the rebuild is unintentional or uncoordinated. I do believe that the B's should try to find a way to add Landeskog (or similar) without including the players mentioned above.

I believe the B's have three RHD that could set them up on that side for the next 10 years (Carlo, McAvoy, Chiller).

Exactly how I see it Joe.

The rebuild is on track through outstanding prospect acquisition. The prospect group is the best I've seen in 35 years following the Bruins.

McAvoy, Carlo and C. Miller could become the best RH group on defense in a long time for Boston. Using a bunch of assets on Trouba or Shattenkirk would be wasted at this point.

Landeskog would be a terrific addition if the price is right. He would be a huge upgrade over Spooner on LW with Krejci.

I wouldn't, because defensemen are (obviously) vital, and a lot harder to come by.

Considering Carlo's a rookie in his first year, I don't find the Landeskog offer insulting. The market has been shaped by recent trades involving defensemen (Jones/Johansen, Hall/Larsson, Subban/Weber).

In addition, in all three of those trades (especially the two involving a forward swapped for a d-man), the team that got the better defenseman is doing much better standings wise (obviously other factors are involved, but the newly-acquired defensemen are big contributors).

Maybe I am too old, but I love me a solid, big & not afraid to be physical, defenseman. I think that this kind of player is important in a team. To be the defensively minded anchor in a top pairing, together with an offensively gifted D.

Dougie was a 6"6 or so, but soft as butter D who played like he was 5"6. Good offensive instinct, but huge flaws defensively. I am ecstatic that we have a Carlo who instead plays physical and is concentrated on the D aspect of the game. Let his future partner be the offensive D.

I just wouldn't trade Carlo for a winger, no offense to Landeskog who is a fine player.

I hope we haven't forgotten already how much fun it was watching last years defense.

Now with the removal of Colin and the insertion of Liles, and the stagnation/regression of Carlo the last month or so, we already are watching last year's Defense now for the most part.

True.
With Carlo you know there's atleast potential, room for development.
Last years defense was just a mess in everyway, Trotman, Kevan, McQuaid wasn't the greatest RD trio.

It's sad though that defense gets worse when it gets healthy.

Nope.

Have we not all seen the market for these top four young stud (or stud in the making) defensemen? Its a hot commodity.

They can find another way to acquire the winger they need. Stay the course with Carlo.

I like this comparison. If Carlo turns into a Hjalmarsson cudos to Sweeney & his staff for that find.

Bruins right side d will look like this (in no order)

McAvoy
Carlo
C. Miller (If Claude is gone)

This has the potential to be scary good!

This should be a pretty easy answer... NO.

Stay the course. Carlo may not have elite offensive upside, but I honestly can't see him being any worse than a top four D on a contender. Our LW depth at this point is fine with Marchand/Vatrano, and I feel like Debrusk will be a mainstay in the top nine sooner than later. Beleksey is still here too (who I still believe is fine as your 3rd line LW).

Not to mention hes in our top 4 and the defense actually NEEDS him to compete.

The Bruins have been searching for years for a top pairing Dman and as soon as they get a young cost controlled one, they should trade him for a forward?

Carlo may not be a legit top 2 yet, but so far, he has showed that on most nights he can be.

You keep Carlo.

They should never have traded Dougie Hamilton. If he wasn't happy you do what Tampa did with Drouin, "take a seat". Dougie had no leverage. Would all you trade Seguin trade Hamilton fans feel better if both these guys were in the lineup? Two bad trades that is effecting your team now.

Next year with McAvoy and Carlo manning the top two RHD spots, people will be asking Dougie who? In the next few years when Senyshyn, JFK, and Lauzon are all significant contributors on a good team, people will be applauding that deal.
