Would YOU move Carlo for Landeskog?

Easy no for me. Carlo is a gem, I absolutely love his game. I'd consider a Lauzon/Debrusk type of package for Landeskog, but Carlo is off the table.

Agreed.

It is so hard to find those foundation defensmen.
Carlo has potential to be top 2 and minimum of top 4 shutdown blueliner.
For him to play so well his rookie year is already unbelievable and he's going to get better.

I like Landeskog, and I'd be willing to package some other players for him, maybe spooner, maybe even krug and of course picks and/or ahl prospects.

Over the past couple of years, this team has traded away two top4 defenseman, two top6 forwards and a top10 scorer.

In none of those deals, did we get back a young, high-end player like Carlo.

I for one, would like to see us on that end of the equation for once.

Actually, we DID get Carlo in the Boychuk deal ( as well as Lindgren ).

Absolutely not.

That's the category for me.

The Bruins have been looking too long for a youngster with top pair D potential...Carlo is for all realistic purposes untouchable imo. Sure, he's slipped a bit lately, but that's understandable.

I couldn't care less that he has no offensive game, young Dmen with a high defensive ceiling are an endangered species.

Love Landeskog, I think he would make a perfect Bruin with a great cap hit ....but like most on here not for Carlo or Charlie. Wouldn't be surprised if The Flyers found a way to get him...would make a great Flyer as well and they seem to have a knack of being able to get the players they want

My feelings exactly.

While I like what I have seen from Carlo he could still peak out at Hal Gill or Nick Boynton. I will always move the prospect for an established top line winger on a good contract, it may bite the Bruins in a few years if Carlo continues to improve but if he regresses or stays the same you wish you could have made the deal for landeskog in a few years.

Because they give up their top prospects when players like Landeskog become available.

Are we overvaluing Carlo? He's been a great surprise, but it's a small sample and he's faded off of late. He also has the Chara effect helping him.

While he`s hit a bit of a wall in his year which isn`t surprising, I`m seeing things at 19 from him I NEVER saw from either Boynton or Gill

No I don't think so.

He's a 19-year old playing the hardest position in the best hockey league in the world.

I don`t think so, most/many here envision him as potentially a terrific top 4 shutdown D man who might contribute a bit offensively from time to time. Nobody here exclaiming numerous Norris wins in his future.

Working alongside Z has to be a benefit but make no mistake, tis no coincidence that Z having a partner who can play the way Carlo can has also helped Z

I get that, but chara made Zack Trotman look like an NHL defenseman too for a good stretch just last year against opponents best.

Oh be serious. Trotman could have played on a line with Bobby Orr, Ray Bourque, Larry Robinson, and Nick Lidstrom and still not looked like an NHL defenseman. If your argument to trade Carlo is the stellar play of Zach Trotman under Chara's tutelage, I'm afraid it's going to (rightfully) get laughed off the forum.

Obvious difference in ages but one guy can't crack into the league this year and the other is too valuable to trade for a 24 year old NHL captain.

Just saying maybe the Carlo brigade needs to get a little air.

Someone needs a little air if they cannot see the difference between Brandon Carlo and Zach Freaking Trotman. :shakehead

It's tough. Mcavoy looks to be another stud type dman but hasn't proved it. Personally I would hold onto both with the hopes that Carlo becomes something like our version of peitrangelo and Mcavoy becomes almost like a shattenkirk for us.
Obviously those are lofty expectations but I think it best to hold onto both, especially with Chara retiring eventually, and no other great talent outside of our recent draft picks.
I love Lando but the only way you could even make me think of including one of the two D men Duchene's name would have to be on the other side.

Ahh the sweet interwebs . . . where conversations about two players with the same production polarize into either "there is no difference between them" or "one guy is trash, the other is more valuable than a 24 year old captain."

It's a tough decision when you have the opportunity to address a real need for the team up front vs. a real need on the blueline. I'd not do Lando for Carlo, but I might think about McAvoy. For all the upside and good press and obvious talent, he may or may not make it, or more likely, not end up being what we want him to be. We also have some other nice d prospects that for all we know could be better than McAvoy at the NHL level. Lindgren, Lauzon, Grizz, O'Gara- our cupboards are nicely stocked in that area.

On the other hand, you could argue that so is our forward cupboard so why deal McAvoy or Carlo when you have Senyshyn, Cehlarik, Bjork et al. that might give us as much as Lando would. :dunno:

It's a tough call-that's why they pay Sweeney the big bucks I guess

Do you have a point? The vast majority of people think Brandon Carlo is a better hockey player at 19 than Zach Trotman is at 24, regardless of "production". You do not, so therefore the vast majority disagree with you.

Own it.
