Just because I am from Canada doesn't necessarily mean I support all Canadian teams.
Anyway I don't like the cap after I witnessed what happened to the Blackhawks. I want to watch great teams. Not mediocrity.
As a Blackhawks fan, I agree 100 percent. Should have been 4 or 5 cups.

I used to think Stan Bowman was a good GM.
Just quoting to respond to your reaction

It's 100% sour grapes on my part and I thought it fit the thread, but that Game 7 OT loss is the single most heartbreaking moment I can remember in my sports life.

The Avalanche should have drafted Seth Jones.

I had a longer post going about my "wants" for the Devils going back to the 1997 Draft but that was a bit of a rambling mess. So instead, I'll fully admit to wanting Nolan Patrick at the 2017 Draft. Here's a pic of me and the owner beforehand. I'm probably the only Devils fan with a Patrick nameplate.

I happened to see Patrick win the 2016 WHL championship while visiting friends in Seattle. The delusional side of me decided that it couldn't have been coincidental.

I don't think there's a single fan who thinks their team hasn't left cups on the table in the last twenty years...

In any case, I like the cap, I don't want to see a sport where the richest clubs dominate forever and poorer clubs routinely bankrupt themselves trying to keep up. I wish GMs were more aggressive about putting talent together, but I like the cap as a regulator.

I was convinced that Rusty Olesz and, before that, Denis Shvidki would become top line wingers. Never put it in writing, but ...

OEL was going to be the next dominant Swedish defenseman with multiple Norris trophies in his career.

I thought Tkachuk was being at least somewhat being propped up by Gaudreau. Expected good 2nd line player production from him in Florida. Turns out it may have been the other way around.

Even if that is true, no one would say the Sharks were a bad team. It's just hilarious to try and claim a yearly top 10 team is bad. There are expectations BECAUSE the team is good.

And this comment is weird considering I said nothing about the Panthers. Just called you out on obvious hyperbole.

To put it simply, the leafs are just not very good when it counts.

I've consistently labeled them as a good regular season team.

it's already been mentioned lots but at the time of the draft I thought Lafreniere was the 4th best draft eligible prospect since the Crosby draft above guys like Matthews, Dahlin and Eichel and was a shoe in to be a franchise defining winger.

I had
1) Crosby/McDavid
3) Tavares
4) Lafreniere

Right after Galchenyuks 30 goal season in his second year in the league, I was adamantly against trading him for kucherov. It was never an actual runor but it was something that was thrown around here a bit, and I was adamantly saying no to that….yiiiiikes

Hemsky might be a 100 point scorer for the Oilers. I can't remember if I said so explicitly on this site, but I bought into the hype and thought it might actually happen.

Koskinen might be the defensive leader that the Oilers sorely need.
