Farabee would be a PPG player
Eklund > McTavish
Johansen would be better than Rick Nash
Arthur Kaliyev would not stick in the NHL due to his skating

my worst was probably regarding Mackinnon, I thought he wouldnt make the cut as center and should be moved full time to the wing. lol iirc I went to even suggest trading him and keep Duchene and ROR. on my defence I can say I wasnt alone on these takes, a few other on Avs board had these ideas. :baghead:

When ovechkin was at his worst, I think I said I don't want him on my team.

I thought both Kassian and Hodgsen were gonna be studs

Hodgson seemed like a safe bet, at least. He ended uo having some sort of undiagnosed muscle condition or something to that extent that really stunted his progression.

You can't predict those things.

Speaking of bad takes, not very good teams don't routinely finish at the top of the standings
Presidents trophy winners last season and got swept in round 2. You’re acting like you’re in some league above Florida lmao. Know what’s not an anomaly? Leafs being pathetic in the playoffs. That’s a sure bet. You’re the new San Jose Sharks. Throw the parade for regular season winners and post season flops.

Even if that is true, no one would say the Sharks were a bad team. It's just hilarious to try and claim a yearly top 10 team is bad. There are expectations BECAUSE the team is good.

And this comment is weird considering I said nothing about the Panthers. Just called you out on obvious hyperbole.

I've been here since 2002. It's like the sands of the seashore. My favorite was probably the running commentary by that guy who was anti-Jack Hughes and pro Kaako. Hated Hughes' "wide turns" among other things.

This is about your own worst take, there are plenty of other threads where you can make fun of others.

For me I thought OEL would be a #1D once his personal life got better and he got out of Arizona. Don't remember if I commented about it though.

I also thought Puljujarvis lack of hockey IQ didn't matter so much because he had everything else (his hip problems didn't help but I thought he'd first liner).

I was thrilled the Blues traded Tage Thompson instead of Klim Kostin in the ROR deal…
At the time i'd believe you

Now? God damn that sucks. Tage didn't look all too special until he got that wrist shot going.

I legit thought Griffin Reinhart was going to be a special defenseman. Comparable to like a Slavin or prime Vlasic type.
I thought he would've been a regular since he was a top player because he was a top 5 pick. Silly me. However i think as time passes on, the trade has aged nicely for the islanders, and impacted our franchise in a good way.

A few years ago I argued that Gallagher was better than Filip Forsberg, based on his incredible 5v5 metrics. That one didn't last.

On the other hand. I remember the laughs and insults when I said the Erik Karlsson trade to SJS would turn out great for Ottawa.

I wasnt really down on Caps trading Forsberg for Erat when it happened, because i thought the real catch in the deal would end up being Michael Latta.

I thought he was going to be a legit top9 scoring power forward for atleast a decade.

Thought Marner and Dvorak would be better nhlers than Tkachuk. One is semi defensible , the other is an absolutely horrendous take . And I watched a fair bit of Knights Hockey which makes it worse …sigh

Enver Lisin.
Wow, now there's a name I haven't heard in long time

I thought Sven Baertschi would be an All-start, and was very pissed when CGY drafted him.

I was certain Hodgson would be a Captain in Van, and that Kassian had legit 1st line upside. I swear he had hands at some point ,wtf happened there?

Here's a future probable bad take - I think Brock Boeser will clear 30g this season now that he's training properly and has quit that stupid ass Da Beauty League

I proposed around late May 2015

Phil Kessel for Alex Barkov + Aaron Ekblad + 2015 1st rounder from panthers

I was like 15/16 at the time but sheesh that was some f***ing terrible valuation by me haha
Don't feel bad. It was plenty of Leafs fans looking to get as much they could from trading Phil at that time. They went a little overboard sometimes. :thumbu:

True I overrated Phil for sure but also hadn't understood that in the NHL players simply dont have the value to pull 2-3 ELC/cost cobtrolled super high end pieces

I dont think there are any players now besides Mcdavis who could bring back the equivalent of

Barkov (20 YO) + Ekblad (19 YO) + 10th OA and even then cap space would make it tough for the team trading for Mcdavid to be able to win a cup

The Rangers would win the cup within the next 5 years (2017)

I supported the cap when it first came in. Not any more.
Hasn't changed anything for the Canadian teams, yet if it wasn't then most of them would be gone.

Just because I am from Canada doesn't necessarily mean I support all Canadian teams.
Anyway I don't like the cap after I witnessed what happened to the Blackhawks. I want to watch great teams. Not mediocrity.
