Wotherspoon is a trooper, missed the game so I'm watching it now.. Even though its already been ruined. (highlights, twitter, texts, etc.)

In this situation you can't use speculation as a basis for your argument. This is a ridiculous post.

If you saw the game, or his play this tournament, you wouldn't post ridiculous things like this. Why don't you just use Drouin's player of the game recognition against the Russians where already drafted players already picked higher RNH, Yakupov as all you need to know about the potential Drouin has. But I guess all prospects are busts before they can prove they can play in the NHL to you.

So which 2012 draft picks are showing well?

I've like Grigorenko, he's made some terrific passing plays, which is what his strength is as a center. Caused the turnover leading to the Kucherov goal, set up the cross crease on the terrific Subban save.

Trouba maybe the best 2012 defender I've watch.

Galchenyuk is 2nd. leading scorer so he must be doing something out there.

Rielly showing he's not one of the better defenders on Canada, looks like he's small out there.

Others?

We don't need to get into the way you bend and shape things to suit your arguments. This is something you're more than well-noted for. Put the shovel down.

And I wasn't making an assumption that anyone WOULD bust this year. I was noting that nothing is a sure thing, which is, in itself, a sure thing. Kids are hyped all the time, and don't live up to it. Some kids have great careers, and don't live up to their hype.

Either way, I don't think we have a bust in the top 3 this year, but you can't guarantee anything. There are no guarantees outside of death and taxes.

I can when it's my opinion, Drouin is better now than Kane was at the same age. Now I don't use stats as blindly as some, or I would actually think Gally has had a good tournament thus far. BTW Did you see his game today, Gaudreau, Miller, Troecheck all were more impactful than Gally, where in his last 3 games, US posters on the main board are all questioning where he has been?

My opinion is Drouin has shown me he can be a better player than Kane, his defensive game is underrated and he plays better when game are important, unlike your fav from last year. Is this untrue?

I agree about Grigorenko, better showing for him. But you should be better than this to say Gally is the 2nd leading scorer so all is well. He has not impacted games against Canada, Russia, and the Slovaks. Piling up points when the game is in hand and against Germany is not the same thing to what Drouin did today. He played behind Troechek and Gaudreau today, and those 2 sparked USA along with Trouba to a big win.

I like Galchenyuk, Grigorenko, and Trouba.

Teuvo Teravainen was possibly one of the most dangerous players in the tournament, on a shift-to-shift basis.

Looks like CANADA is getting better each game... and we all know what that means! Subban is boosting with confidence, you can see it in his eyes.

I doubted Subban at first, but he's been tremendous these last couple games. Felt so happy when he saved that penalty shot and celied. The subbans are easy guys to like (and for some to hate  )

I never said all is well, I said he must be doing something. All the US players have played against the same teams.

Who are we talking about here?

This is using different angles to suit your argument.... pretty much doing EXACTLY what I said in my first paragraph.

If the stats backed up your Drouin > Kane argument, you would be using them, you've done it in the past. You are wrong, completely. There isn't a way to show, nor will there be, that Drouin is better than Kane was at 17, because he isn't. Kane was by far and away the better player. As much as I love Drouin, at this age, there is no question. Sorry. Stats, and watching them play, will show it.

What in the **** does Galchenyuk have to do with any of this? Really. Stay on the topic of conversation, already. Always going off on something to try to prove a point, even if it's completely irrelevant. I've seen all of the games from the US, and if you want to say that Gally hasn't played well, his mirror image has been Huberdeau. They've had a mirrored tournament so far. They're tied for second in points together, and have played pretty much the same the entire time. Why not bring that up? Because you LOVE Huberdeau, and have had an agenda against Alex since he was who I wanted. Funny, If I didn't say I liked a propspect, you would probably never dislike them.

That doesn't mean another Canadian keeper would be sucking. Look at the Russians, they've used 2 keepers without much concern.

Oh for sure, but would they be able to up Subbans performance? I HIGHLY doubt it. Guy has great athleticism and a great mindset

Not to be an azz, but you actually thought the Finns were contenders of winning the gold. The way you were posting about them, one would have thought they were the favourites.

Remember what I cautioned you about on pre tourney games, and Canada and Russia not showing their cards in pre tourney games so obcourse the Finns with home ice and ref advantage looked better than what they truly are. I said it to you, but you did not listen, so excuse me if I will stick with Drouin being better than Kane was at the same age than your evaluation. I don't recall too many 17 year olds outplaying 2 former #1 picks a year and 2 years older than they are, in a big game for a quarter final bye against the other junior powerhouse team since this tourney's inception.

BTW all 3 teams, not 5 my last count for you are still in contention for the Gold. USA, CAN and Russia.

I wonder how they would have fared with Aaltonen? They don't have the same depth to replace injuries as the other favorites.

Perhaps the most impressive team is Sweden with 3 of their top 4 defenders injured.

Nilsson is probably getting a lot of time, but I'm speculating here. Someone watching could perhaps let us know.

I never said all is well, I said he must be doing something. All the US players have played against the same teams.

The common refrain from USA fans, not me though I agree, he has been practically invisible against the better teams in the tournament despite a regular shift and PP time(which is plenty in this tourney)

He has not looked like USA's best fwd, and today he got less ice time behind, Troechek, Gaudreau, and Miller.

My fav Grimaldi was benched, not sure if it is injury or bad performance Mac wasn't clear, so the blame was plenty to spread around.

Only thing Rielly has proven is that Spot will play his own player, when it is not deserved. Rielly has done nothing to prove he is not one of Canada's best defenders. He has yet to be on the ice for a goal against, he is a plus player and leads the Defence in scoring.....seems to me that he is doing well.

Galchenyuk......needs to show more balls as he has played an perimeter game against the top teams.....I still like him, but he needs to be able to play in greasy areas of the ice more.

Grigorenko.....has played well....great play maker and vision.

Trouba.....has been fantastic no doubt.

Maybe, but a good team should be able to at least make it to the quarters with 1 injury, look at the Swedes and their injuries.

Canada without Jenner, and other suspensions. BTW Jenner was a force defensively today, people who said he was a bit player should watch his game today, there is more to this game than compiling useless points.

They mentioned during the broadcast that usually 19 year old players do the best.

I'd suggest for the most part maturity and physical strength does play a role.

Canada has a deep D, if Rielly were US born he could be playing like Trouba is thus far. For Leafs fans, what I like about Rielly is you have to embrace what he is, he anticipates the play so well, defensively we are rarely in trouble when he is on the ice. It isn't a Harrington defensive game but it is effective. I don't recall him being on the ice for one goal against yet, but plenty Goals for.

Grigorenko looked more dangerous or created more offence than Yakupov today, but Yak was marked by Canada.

If anything Ulf will be happy to read this, he has partially made amends of his poor last 2 showings internationally and the playoffs. But I still don't see franchise C in him, top 6 yes.

I'm sure Biggs likes playing with him. He is strong like bull ... which leads me to the Nichushkin penalty today. He deserved the 5 minutes, but it didn't look like he even put much effort into the hit. He's a bull as well. Too bad I'd liked to see him again today.

He is a 2012 draft, playing on a favorite, and his line has been very effective. There are some 2012 picks not getting a lot of ice in this tournament.

Next year is when we should expect the 2012 picks to dominate.
