First game I watched fully and I agree with the fact that Reilly is extremely underused. So is Mackinnon imo. Either way great game against the Russians.

Yeah it's too bad. On one hand the lockout provides a great tournament but on the other it makes it tougher for the younger players to get time. It's hard to argue with the coaching right now with the way the team is playing though

I didn't like the move of putting him on the top line. I knew it would still be good, but it made the Strome line less noticeable.

I thought it gave a Huberdeau a kick in the ass. He was unimpressive the first few games but looked much better today. He seemed to compete much harder and made better decisions with the puck.

Rielly has yet to be on the ice for a goal against in this tourney, I think he was a +1 today as well. He fanned on that pass early, but the puck looked like it was bouncing on everyone today...

Rielly needs to be on that top PP unit IMHO. How many games do we have to with Murphy getting zero, yes ZERO points with every chance to succeed.

Other than the one solo dash Reilly was probably our worst D today if we're being honest. Lots of errant passes, no presence in front of the net, was a relatively poor game.

i uno man, Canada's D must be so ****en supreme, like best D on the world
if Rielly isn't get any minutes

either that, or they just dont like Rielly
am waiting for like 6 minutes to see #4 come on

and 30 seconds after he's gone
btw nice goal from Subban

Rielly was off today to be fair, got benched in the third. But I'd like to see Spott use Rielly more than Murphy.

Really surprised Finland didn't make the quarters.

No doubt, a let down. Lots of talent there.

Ristolainen really opened some eyes this tournament. He seems to be the total package in the making. Responsible, and aware of his position on the ice, great offensive instincts, and a 1st unit PP threat.

I also really liked the other draft elligible forward.. Lekhonen? He looks pretty good. Maybe a 2nd rounder? late 1st?

Lehkonen is "supposed" to go in the mid-late first.

I think Lekhonen will be a first rounder. Ristolainen has only left me wondering more about what he is truly capable of.

Why he persists to use him with Murphy is still a mystery to me.

He's got two big left handed defensive minded defensemen in Reinhart and Wotherspoon that would be such a better fit for Murphy, Then use Quelett with Rielly.

It's frustrating.

Spott seems to play favourites and murphy is his boy, might have something to do with it lol.

Finland had a solid mix of youth and experience. They'll be back next year stronger, I believe.

For now, just hoping Canada can keep this up.

They had a bunch of guys who were just awesome 2-way guys, and they had some decent size too. Seemed like they were use to getting down in the game and it was too late for them to come back against such a good team like Sweden.

Insane amount of talent. Really thought they could compete for a medal.

I thought they could've contended for Gold. They had so much talent and looked soo good against Canada early on.

Daigle, Brian Lawton, Svitov, Stefan....

What did they all have in common?

Yeah, they were gonna be stars too. There are no guarantees.

Now name me the list of players that were not busts? Logic prevails again, unless you truly believe the top 3 in this draft are closer to busts than stars. Really if you are going to be this negative in life, you wouldn't be so interested in draft threads.

But hey I can pick out a name or 2 out of the many top picks to have made it, and make it bend to fit a argument, while ignoring the overwhelming high picks to have made it. Let's say Drouin is a top 3 pick this year, how many top 3 picks are duds, in a draft year this strong?

This isn't the Kane draft where the draft was not as hyped.

Well what caused me to ask you if you wanted to make a gentleman's bet is this post of yours, in which I was less thrilled with the Finns chances of not winning the tournament than you were, much more intact, along with your continual pumping of Barkov's tires despite what I cautioned you of.

This Finnish team has a chance to play for gold at the WJC's. speaks to the development of their youth system. I, for one, cheer for Finland and Canada, Internationally. I've always had a soft spot for the Finns. I bought a National team jersey last year and all.

I like the way Finns play the game.

P.S Mods, Ernie and I are pals, we are not flaming each other, like most good pals we just go at it, at times.

We don't need to get into the way you bend and shape things to suit your arguments. This is something you're more than well-noted for. Put the shovel down.

And I wasn't making an assumption that anyone WOULD bust this year. I was noting that nothing is a sure thing, which is, in itself, a sure thing. Kids are hyped all the time, and don't live up to it. Some kids have great careers, and don't live up to their hype.

Either way, I don't think we have a bust in the top 3 this year, but you can't guarantee anything. There are no guarantees outside of death and taxes.

See, there you go again... Unable to read plain English.

You were WRONG. You're making yourself look like a fool. You claim that I said the Finns WOULD WIN the tournament, when in actuality, I never said that at all.

As you can clearly read (or apparently not), I wrote that they had a a chance to contend for gold with the talent they had (Which you cannot deny, with the ease that they disposed of the US and Canada early on). You're a contrarion. We all know this. It's not new, and it's not something that people are blind to. Sure, you said they wouldn't win the tournament, but nobody here said they would.

They bowed out early. Again, Glad I'm a Canadian, and my horse is still in the race.

And for the record, I'll still pump Barkov's tires. He's still one of the top 3 talents in the world at his age.
