That's because most of the world has no chance to see this game because it's not broadcasted.

If it was I wouldn't sit here in front of my computer.

Holy crap what a game. When Lacavalier was coming into the Czech zone in OT and the idiot who stood right in front of the camera came I was like MOVE YOU ****** DAMMIT.

I yelled "Down in Front"!

I can't understand the criticism of Luongo. He was far from perfect, and nobody is Brodeur at this time, but he played quite well in front of a rather mediocre defense that had difficulty clearing the zone and passed poorly, and he made some astonishing saves. I'm sure he would admit to blowing it on Czech's 3rd goal, but was otherwise excellent on a night when Canada was outplayed but won. He didn't steal the game, sure, but he sure wasn't close to the worst Canuck on the ice.

Sure wish ESPN would have shown me that ot goal.

And is it just me, or did Lecavalier's goal just make him the frontrunner for MVP?

No. It just makes up for the dumbass penalty he took when the Czechs scored.

Actually, I think the Czechs were the second best team in the tourney and very close to Canada, but totally dominated Canada tonight. My point of saying this game shouldn't be going on was the Czechs should have won it in regulation.

They must have been the second best team since they lost to Finland only 4-0....is that what you are saying?

Two best teams are always playing in the finals, thats just how it is. I remember Finland dominating the -94 olympics, losing only ONE PERIOD in that tournament and outclassing every other team ridiculously....does anyone else (who isnt a finn) remember that dominance? No. They remember that final was Sweden-Canada and Sweden won. Why is that? Because only results matter. One could argue Finland was clearly , by a wide marging the best team in 1994 olympics, but one would be wrong. Sweden and Canada were better since they played in the finals.

Hence...Finland and Canada are the two best teams in this tournament and it remains to be seen which one is better.

ESPN dropped this game? I don't know... I they showed it here in MASS...It's probably your local company did it.

It was a local decision??? Just another cost of living with hurricanes and no culture here in Florida.

I'm so glad I'll be back in Canada within 18 months. Can't wait to go home.

I suspect the CBC stayed with the game. How I miss the CBC.

I agree. Luongo played very well sometimes, but there were also some other times where he could have played it smarter. All in all, I thought he did pretty well.

Actually, I thought that was a poor call. At worst there was a hook earlier on the play, but the refs let a lot worse than that go throughout the night.

Guys, enough about the "obviously biased reffing". I highly doubt that Bettman went into the on-ice official dressing room before the game and told them all how they were going to call the game. Both teams got away with some stuff they shouldn't have (Czechs setting offensive zone picks, Canada clutching/grabbing). That call on Lecavalier was pretty chintzy as well, IMHO.

It was a pretty weak call, given all the clutching and grabbing that went on all night. Refs did a very good job but blew that call.

For once I wasn't screaming for Kaberle to shoot from the point, and so he does, leading to the rebound goal. Will he remember that whenever he gets to play for the Leafs again?

Sorry, meant going into the tournament my two choices were 1. Canada 2. Czech Republic. Hell, if Finland wins they'll definitely get the title of best as they have the Cup :)

Dumbass penalty? That was completely a makeup call for the Canadian powerplay goal. It was a terrible call, everyone knew it.

Unforunately, one of the tactics used to avoid tackling is picking in the offenzive zone. I couldn't blame them. :dunno:

Thanks to this board for telling me who won as classy ESPN dropped this trivial game for a critical Ole Miss/Alabama football game. It was a great game to watch (if not the best played) and I was ready for the overtime. I waited, figuring that for some reason those dolts were showing us the football instead of discussing the game or showing highlights and the football droned on and on; I was afraid to leave in case the game came back on.

Sure I'm thrilled that Canada won (although Czechs deserved the win based on their play) and I will have another game to watch Tuesday before the great silence (unless ESPN cuts away to poker) but the contempt for hockey, the hockey fan, and the viewer in general was disgusting.

Can someone please describe the winning goal in some detail as I was unable to see it.

#%&$ ESPN.

lecavalier rushed in over the blue line on the right wing and skated along the boards behind the net where he was rubbed out. he picked himself up off the ice and by this time the puck was stopped by smyth on the left wing boards. smyth fired a shot that vokoun easily stopped but couldn't control the rebound. lecavalier, all alone in front (malik's man i think), lecavalier fanned on the puck with a wide open net. still with no one on him, he was able to retrieve the puck about 6 inches in front of the icing line a few feet to the right side of the goal. he fired a sharp angle shot the picked the top of the net. amazing shot really.

Bouwmeester is easily becoming one of my favourite players :yo:

Same here.

He made a play in the 2nd where he pinched in and had a chance in the slot but missed it. The Czechs took it back the other way and I'm thinking to myself " Boumeesters caught". All of the sudden, just after the Czechs cross the CDN blueline I see J-BO flying into the picture, skating backwards, and he was in perfect position for the play.

Not only did he skate well but he played the body too.

He's going to be a great one, if he isn't already.

I agree it was a poor call but it was a unnecessary hook anyway. Also the refs let the game go completely in the third, very much in favour of canada whose defense couldn't keep up with the fast & shifty Czech forwards. Still, regardless if it was a poor call or not, an OT-goal shouldn't be the deciding factor in determining tournament MVP.

What a game!! My heart was beating so fast...I thought that Canada may not win this game holy **** what a game. Gosh when they scored 6 seconds after us and everything. We were outplayed and Luongo still faced close to 40 shots...man he never gets a break. I think he played OK and obviously he's no Brodeur but at least he got the win!! WE'RE GOING TO THE FINALS!! GO TEAM CANADA GO!!

Thanks. I'll get it on streaming video later.

I'm still fuming at ESPN. Jackasses!

Oh, definitely not, but going into the game my 3 choices for MVP for Canada were Sakic, Brodeur and Lecavalier. Brodeur didn't play, which brings down his chances slightly, Sakic had a good game but didn't add to his resume, and I feel Vinny jumped ahead by getting a big time goal.

He looked like he would be a great one in junior, and at the junior worlds. He is coming along nicely. The Norris seems in his future. Wonder if Florida would consider trading him to Toronto for the rights to Trevor Kidd? Doesn't Florida need a goalie once they trade Luongo to Toronto for the rights to Jyrkke Lumme?

Dream on, exiled.

I'd pick Thornton as MVP (hehe homer  )...he plays with two muckers in a checking role, and he is still getting points on the board as well.

Maybe.. I was very impressed by Thornton this night. He was solid as a rock and did he ever loose a face off?

He's already in Toronto, just kidnap him, drug him, hypnotize him into thinking he's Miguel Sanchez, then give him slight plastic surgery to alter his appearance and *bam* you've got yourself a great young defender.
