He looked like he would be a great one in junior, and at the junior worlds. He is coming along nicely. The Norris seems in his future. Wonder if Florida would consider trading him to Toronto for the rights to Trevor Kidd? Doesn't Florida need a goalie once they trade Luongo to Toronto for the rights to Jyrkke Lumme?

Dream on, exiled.
:lol

Great post!

It's always good to have a sense of humour!

I'd pick Thornton as MVP (hehe homer  )...he plays with two muckers in a checking role, and he is still getting points on the board as well.
I wouldn't call Drapes and Doaner muckers, all three compliment each others game.

HEH what do you say we flood the CBC with requests that the last quarter of the superbowl gets knocked out for a rerun of giligans island in retaliation for ESPN pulling out and not showning the overtime.

I think it was local areas that made the choice. We got the hockey game in Mass. Dont blame ESPN for that.

whats cbc going to do about it, they dont carry the game.

It was not an unassisted goal. I think it was Thornton who passed Draper the puck but certainly Volkaun (sp?) deserves another assist for going down so quickly.
Ya, TSN shows that he had the assist. So thats 8 points for the checking line in the tournament.

Final game:

CANADA vs. FINLAND

...sounds too good to be true, but it really is true! Holy ****!

Mario was so awesome tonight... and I didn't wear my Penguins glasses during the game.

Oh crap, 2 nights without hockey. What to do? :shakehead

Amazing game ... absolutely brilliant.

I do feel bad for the Czechs, though. Canada was definitely doing some illegal stuff out there (Jagr was a major victim). Plus there was the factor of jetlag...

Oh well, amazing game. Czechs played their hearts out for Hlinka, and in that sense, I was rooting for Team Czech, but in the end, my loyalty is to Canada. :)

One more game, and no more NHL hockey ... this game reminds me what I'm going to be missing.

BTW, I pity the people who couldn't watch OT, due to the crappiness of ESPN.

WOooooooooo...best game ive been to in a long time. I was worried for a while there that my final ticket would be worthless :amazed:

three cheers for vinny

Can someone please describe the winning goal in some detail as I was unable to see it.

Recapping the previous posts:

Lacavalier was coming into the Czech zone in OT and some idiot stood up right in front of the camera. At that point, the poster SENSational was like MOVE YOU ****** DAMMIT.

Then, the poster Legionairre yelled "Down in Front"!

Then, Lecavalier scored.

Up in the luxury box, Gretzky tackled Lowe. All of Canada rejoiced. Beers were popped open, children screamed in joy and women threw themselves at their men.

...And ESPN immediately cut to a meaningless college football game in cow pasture territory somewhere in America. :)

What a game!! My heart was beating so fast...I thought that Canada may not win this game holy **** what a game. Gosh when they scored 6 seconds after us and everything. We were outplayed and Luongo still faced close to 40 shots...man he never gets a break. I think he played OK and obviously he's no Brodeur but at least he got the win!! WE'RE GOING TO THE FINALS!! GO TEAM CANADA GO!!

I've only seen the first two periods (had to leave... sob... but taped the rest), but I certainly didn't see any reffing advantage there for the Canadians. The Czechs were setting huge picks all over the ice and I saw a blatant hip check on a player chasing down a puck go uncalled. My guess it the refs were just letting stuff go for both sides... it certainly didn't look as though the Czechs were suffering much from bad or missed calls.

The Canadains were unusually sloppy while the Czechs made very few mistakes... but Canada played a more aggressive attacking game while the Czechs were great in transition. Canada looked confused by the Czech team defence... when guys like Sakic and Richards are giving the puck up in the neutral zone time and again you know something is wrong. The Czechs played a better team game, but I felt the Canadians weren't undeserving of the win either.

Luongo seemed excellent in net, but to be honest, if Brodeur was in goal it would have been an entirely different game. He controls the puck much better and I'm pretty certain he would not have let in that first goal... Being down one goal is entirely different than being down two... and over time the Canadian team confidence seemed a bit shaken. I saw more of the "individual" efforts start to pop up, and that often happens when players start doubting the game plan. Brodeur just has that auora of invincibility that wrecks the oppositions game. Must have been extremely difficult for Luongo to come into the game, and ulitimately he was good enough for the win against an excellent Czech team.

Well done Canada.

Out of the whole team I thought Hannan (sp?), had the most trouble on the ice. As others have pointed out, JBo is a phenom who will be excelling for years.

ESPN cut to the meaningless football game in cultured Tuscaloosa, Alabama BEFORE the overtime began.

Gretzky was pretty animated in the third period with a fist pump when Canada got the third goal and then going off screen to throw up when Czech tied it ten seconds later. He's still got quick moves.

I was laughing at that. Gretzky was too excited and was pushing Lowe out of the way.

it was six seconds :lol

Question: Was the ice bad or were Canada's passes just innacurate due to the Czech's defense?

Probably a little from column A and a little from column B, but that puck seemed to be bouncing everywhere.

Be happy because after that it will be months to years till we see hockey again. Well at least for us North Americans.

Our hockey season starts in like two weeks :p:

Ice has been known to be bad at the ACC at times, and in all rinks in warm weather. But Czech's passes were crisper and more accurate so your analysis seems correct.
