Yeah but how could Finland possibly be ready for that last call on Timonen. He did absolutely nothing wrong. Only thing wrong on the ice at that time was the elbowing by a swede.

I say like this, i think both teams are satisfied with the result, noone did win nor loose. It's a prestige game and for Finland their hockey tour wasn't completed by winning it was only lenghtend. They will get the hard game soon, and yes they might make it to the finals.

What did Timonen do?

Rags is more mobile than you'd think ;) he can take some nice strides at times.

Yeah but still that is perhaps his major weakness. He is mobile, but not THAT mobile. He knows where to go or where to stand mostly, which is perhaps at least as important as skating fast. At least he doesn't dipsy-doodle with the puck like Kim Johnsson..

My god.. what a game.

Luckily Forsberg and Sundin will retire after 2 years :)

Raimo Summanen was really mad about refs.

Benching Berg was a good move. I think Väänänen was one of top players at finish defence. 1 goal and solid play.

he did crosscheck Forsberg in the neck, didn't he?
Although I personally thought it was a cheap call, but IMO there were many in this game.. especially those goalie interferences by Zetterberg and Hentunen.

Actually when did he cross check Foppa? Nobody saw it.

Yeah, Z and Hentunen got ***** on those calls and Foppa avoided a clear penalty when he went for Kiprusoff behind the net and slashed him as well.

I think the reffing has been pretty horrible althrough the tourney. Especially in the third periods.

.

they showed it on the replay. Two Finnish defensemen were holding Forsberg down when he was on the ice slightly to the right of Kiprusoff. When Forsberg was just about to get up, Timonen cross-checked him to the neck. Didn't look too hard though, but it slowed Forsberg down getting up.

If it was a value tournament, instead of a money making scheem(sp?) for the NHL it would be an extremely important day. But it isn't.

Oh please shut up, will ya? :shakehead

If this is such an "unimportant" tournament, then what are you doing here?

The most important for this tournament is not the big players, it's the big $.
Well, let's review this claim. This tournament is minor bucks for the NHLPA's retirement fund, not like their budget is based on the income from this tournament.

Whereas in Europe most countries' hockey federations budgets for several years are based on hosting the WC's.

So which one is the money grabbing scheme and which one is the best tournament there is?

Great, great game! Refs sucked badly, but have to admit that Sweden have great team and great players. This was real hockey. :yo:

Now to bar to get couple of beers and back to Canada-Russia.

I guess we've been spoiled with good/decent refs in europe...

How about that "everything is relative" cliché ;)

I just want the refs to be somewhat consistent.

Killing time.
I think that this NHL tournament should make new jerseys for the teams and call them something else... Because it's shameful to see the finnish national jerseys in a long commercial for the NHL like this... They could call the teams things like:

The Eagles
The Bald Eagles
The Elks
The Lions
The watchumacallits
The watchumacallits #2
The Vodkaneers
The Grizzlies

So, who should Hardy put in the nets on Tuesday then? I'm starting to lean towards Salo myself.

No, put in Lundqvist or why not play with 6 players all the time ;) It can't be much worse. What is more important is to fix the 5-on-5 game and the play in defensive zone.

I want to see Tellan continue in net. He played very well in the second part of the game and personally I think he has a better winner mentality than Salo.

OT: Sweden - Malta 7-0
13 minutes to go

The best tournament is the ones that have international value and has influence on the countries world ranking.

I don`t know I have liked the reffing. It allows player actually "play" the game, which European refs don`t allow. I wish we had reffing like this in SM-liiga.

Well, at least Sweden has one goaltender that will get a shutout tonight... This is very off topic but Isaksson is quite possibly the best keeper in the world right now.
