We can call the canuck squad "Team Canada Dry" for all I care, I just want to see a Crosby-McDavid-MacK PP line.
10/10 would cheer forWe can call the canuck squad "Team Canada Dry" for all I care, I just want to see a Crosby-McDavid-MacK PP line.
People still crying about gimmick teams in international tournaments even though I posted 2 snips from articles of there being confirmation of no gimmick teams in 2024 World Cup![]()
Latvia lost to Canada 2-1 in the last best on best quarterfinals, and was literally within an inch of taking a late lead. They also shut Canada out at the Worlds last year 2-0. There's no point having a World Cup if the world isn't playing. None of these players are amateurs, even if they're not all in the NHL.I'd rather have all the best players in the world at the tournament instead of some amateurs playing for overmatched teams like Germany or Latvia.
People love to bitch and complain. Why are people still ranting about gimmick teams after it was confirmed there will be no gimmick teams this time?
I'd put it off until Russia can play - or until the NEW generation of Canadian talent comes of age - whichever comes first.Latvia lost to Canada 2-1 in the last best on best quarterfinals, and was literally within an inch of taking a late lead. No YOU listen, ya lousy punk...Sounds like bitching and complaining to me.
Listen, you're making a whole lot of noise for a NT that hasn't won shit in 40 years. Let's just move on without them. They are not needed.

Just because you don't know their names doesn't make them amateurs. Just makes you ignorant.
Ok, fine, so I'll refer to them as has-been's and wanna-be's if that makes u feel better.
Either way, they don't belong in a best-on-best.
Get out of here, jesusOk, fine, so I'll refer to them as has-been's and wanna-be's if that makes u feel better.

Not sure if you realize but there's professional hockey players outside of NA. Whether they play in Germany, Switzerland, Sweden or Finland, those players are getting paid more than in AHL.I'd rather have all the best players in the world at the tournament instead of some amateurs playing for overmatched teams like Germany or Latvia.

We're gonna wait until Russia is good and ready to play and YOU'RE gonna like it !!!!
Umm in 96 and 04 they had a round robin pool completely in Europe. This isnt newThe fact thst they want up to 10 teams and a group stage in europe just seems like a desperate way to gain some sort of legitimacy. It's probably as engaging as the old all star game with north america vs. the world...
Nah, I'd just boycott it just like I did for the gimmicky '16 tournament.
That would absolutely ruin the tournament. Which means that the NHL would probably give it strong consideration. There is mild precedent with things like Trottier playing for USA and Stastny playing for Canada in 1984, but that was a mistake, despite their citizenship, that would only be worse if you had random Russians popping up in other national teams. Let Russia play or ban Russia and consequently Russian players. They could allow willing Russian-born players to play for other national teams and waive the usual eligibility requirements for this tournament. Most would not take part, but at least they'd have the opportunity.

N.H.L.A.R. (NHL Athletes of Russia)You know the NHL is going to float a 1001 trial balloons over the course of the next year to test viability of ignoring international bans and getting NHL Russian players in a WCoH. My guess is it will be a gimmicky team not called Team Russia, but something else. At which I point I'll boycott the tournament just like I did for the 2016 gimmicks. provided of course the current situation is still playing out in 2024. We shall see.
