Clearly offside, clearly affected the goalkeeper, both by making an attempt at the ball and by being in his line of sight.

I'd be more in favour of somehow loosening the offsides rule. The current rule wasn't designed with VAR in mind, and offsides calls are really where the majority of my problem calls with var are coming from.

By law that doesn't matter. He just needs to affect the goalie, which he clearly does.

VAR for really tight offsides just feels wrong.

I feel like people who say this forget how much it sucked before. B**** about VAR all you want, but far fewer matches are decided by refereeing mistakes nowadays...and it's not like this is the NHL where each review takes half an hour.

When discussing the Premier League at least I think VAR has been bungled pretty bad compared with what they said they would use it for, but the concept of VAR is still needed.

I see no issue with how it was used in this game.

I feel like defending in the box is way cleaner, leading to more chances in var-refereed games.

And I watch more games without var than with, haha.

Fair enough. I don't watch the EPL much so have no opinion on how it's implemented there...but in the BuLi and at international tourneys, it's fine.
