not really
Kevin De Bruyne was astonishingly good in the BuLi, as in historically good, which is what earned him the City transfer. And of course he's been one of the best players in the Premiership since he got there. It's pretty obvious that the man has had a great career and some lackluster performances for Belgium (a team overall clearly past its zenith) don't change that.

Sometimes papa knows what he's talking about. First non goal was keepers fault just like that one was. Should be 2-0....

Weren't you one who defended Messi as not GOAT because of Argentina not winning the WC?
KdB has been absoultely desastrous in every international competition, EVEN when Belgium was good.
Last WC, it was injured Hazard who was amazing.

This is definitely good.

We always realistically needed a point vs Croatia and a win vs Morocco to advance anyway.

Now at least we avoid a scenario where Belgium locks up the group with 6 points and starts no one in their final match vs Croatia.
Meh, of course Canada's chances basically hinge on having Croatia and Belgium needing to play for something, and preferably a scenario where a draw doesn't advance both of them. That being said, if Morroco wins they can park the bus against us and play for a draw which isn't good at all.

A draw here would be best for sure. But at least in your latter scenario we control our destiny.

And nowhere would I say KdB is anywhere near the GOAT debate. It's just disingenuous to imply he's only made to look good by City when those who've actually watched his entire career know he was world class well before he got to City. Sometimes, star players fit into national teams, sometimes they don't.

There is something odd about criticizing a player for only being good for the highly successful team that he is the driving force behind...even if KdB hadn't had that spell for FC VW.

Or sometimes, players fit into a club system, sometimes they don't. That can apply as well.
Kdb had one single great season out of City. While consistently sucking for the NT.

I still think he's a high quality player, make no mistake. But he can be pedestrian and still shine with City.
I reiterate that his last season and most of the previous one was totally subpar. He's been fantastic this season though.

Kevin De Bruyne is the highest rated player in a game like Football Manager. That's pretty telling IMO.

Of course, but a Morroco win basically means neither Croatia or Canada can play for a draw, I don't like our chances in that scenario.

We can still draw and beat Morocco and go through. Not too much changes.

Croatia is playing for a win today regardless, they don't want their lives to rest on a win in their final match vs Begium.

Courtois couldn't do this vs Canada
:(

Belgium are frauds. De Bruyne has nothing to work with. Peak of this Belgium team was 2018, how they've been rated this highly for this long is beyond me. You've got leadership issues when Eden Hazard is your captain.

He scored 15 goals last season. I think you let personal bias influence your views. I don't even like him (I thought he was whiny and selfish when in Germany), but I don't think Pep Guardiola keeps playing a guy in a key position on a team with ridiculous depth which could purchase a replacement in any given window unless that guy has something of high quality to offer.

Belgiums lineup had never made sense to me. Are Witsel and Onana really that good they need to be starting over DeKetalaerle? Do they really need to play 2 DM vs Canada and Morocco? Should T Hazard really be starting over some of the talent they have in the bench?

I probably just don’t know that much about Belgium but seems underwhelming
