Bummed beyond belief.... Now I need to go to my safespace (My fat boy chair in the cellar, no wife, no kiddos, just me, my dog, and a very big glas of whisky, and an old analog tv. )

Impressed with the effort from Canada. A tie would have been nice but it didn't break that way. I hope that the good showings continue and hopefully yield a result or two.

Tough not to pick up a point in this one. Pretty great to see Canada dominate the 1st half like that against one of the top teams in the world, but no finish=no result. Hopefully getting that first game under their belt and realizing they not only belong there, but they’re good enough to do some damage, settles them down a bit when looking to finish.

Tough look for Davies on the pk. Best player on the pitch in the first half but that shot should prob be taken by David.

No matter the sport, Canadians will always find a way to blame the officiating, what a shocker

Really hoped Canada would’ve won this, they were the better team all game.

Belgium is such a fraud of a contender. No where near the #2 team in the world. Missed opportunity for Canada.

Great game from Canada, really impressed with them

As for Belgium, almost everyone here already lost total confidence in Martinez and this game again confirms we're going nowhere with him. Completely clueless in terms of player selection and tactical awareness. So many players who are past it but yeah keep putting them out there. Unbelievable.

They were definitely robbed of a second penalty.

lmao this referee and stoppage time.

Blew the first half whistle 15 seconds early. Blew the full time whistle literally the first second he had a chance despite an absurdly slow corner and a 30 second stoppage for a defender being down before a throw in.
Also controversial during AFCON

IIRC he blew the final whistle of a game like 5 minutes from the end of the 90 mins or something like that

Also. Colina’s reaction lol

Didn’t he blow it early like 3 times in that game? Like he blew 5 minutes early, then they got back on the field and restarted after a while, then he blew it right at 90 or something, then he blew again before stoppage time should have been up?

Hopefully we get a @robertmac43 update on the atmosphere. I’m actually really interested in how this game goes. Canada should be able to strike hard on the counter attack. Belgium’s roster is actually a bit underwhelming.
Wild game. Atmosphere was good! At times it felt like a home game in Toronto. Heartbreaking to not come out of that with a goal and point to show for… the penalty miss hurts.

Love the Canadian mentality. Id rather a team go for the throat of these giants rather than sit back and try to win 1-0.
Agreed 100%, made for a good game, even though they didn’t get any points, Had to get that penalty kick chance.

Belgium should be counting their blessings right now.

Canada showed they belong today.

Croatia and Morocco should be feeling a bit nervous at this moment, IMO.

On the contrary, I think Croatia and Morocco should be feeling good about their changes against Belgium if anything. For example, a team like Morocco's strengths are defensively and in nets and Canada showed a serious lack of finish despite taking the play to Belgium for large portions of the match.

Yes and no.

Canada worries me, but Belgium was pretty poor. So many players past it, their golden generation is still out there, even though half the players are looking really slow and old, mostly the center backs.

But I think we had one game of over-respecting opponents, next time Dalic has to go for wins. Morocco is a very good team and can be deadly on the counter, but us playing with our fullbacks basically even with out center backs just meant that game was hang on 1 or 2 chances, maybe a set piece, and that was it.

I expect Sosa to play much further up vs Canada. Right side, they might leave Juranovic/Stanisic back to deal with Davies.

I wonder what this let down will do for the Canadians. I was emotionally drained just watching it lol.

Croatia should still win this group.
