They were definitely robbed of a second penalty.
Watching the replay of the ref whistling offside on a belgian backpass (and thus ignoring the obvious foul that would have given a pen), Canada should have had THREE distinct penalties.
Of course, Davies may have missed all 3 for all we know.

Yes and no.

Canada worries me, but Belgium was pretty poor. So many players past it, their golden generation is still out there, even though half the players are looking really slow and old, mostly the center backs.

But I think we had one game of over-respecting opponents, next time Dalic has to go for wins. Morocco is a very good team and can be deadly on the counter, but us playing with our fullbacks basically even with out center backs just meant that game was hang on 1 or 2 chances, maybe a set piece, and that was it.

I expect Sosa to play much further up vs Canada. Right side, they might leave Juranovic/Stanisic back to deal with Davies.
I think the Canada manager telling the press there going to Ffff Croatia is not the smartest move by him.

Does David take PKs for Lille?

My first time watching Canada, impressed with them, especially with Eustaquio, such an important player in midfield. David was horrendous though, worst player on the pitch, and Davies tried to do too much.

Modric needed to be sent off in the Morocco match, crazy he didn't even get a yellow card for what I counted were four bookable offenses. Abde was really poor in attack, but nobody works harder than him off the ball. Also LOL at the 2 morroccan fans in the stands who prioritized going to Qatar to getting teeth hahaha

Herdman and Borjan’s old interviews gave several bulletin board material, but I just don’t see it with this group, Dalic is very cautious and continuation from Euro where being in a group with Scotland saved his ass

My guess is he doesn't take the next one if it had been presented. Likely time for David to step up there.

And it was confirmed that the head coach doesn't pick who shoots it. Absolutely ridiculous that David didn't step up here. They pretty much bowed to stardom in a WC game that they could take the lead against their group's favorite. Incredible. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. I'm almost glad they lost after that dumb of a decision.

I found that my fellow Canadians expectations were way to high going into the World Cup. Not just the casual fans either. I will be happy if they can 1) Score a goal 2) Get a result against Morocco.

I'm actually thinking it's the opposite. I, too, was simply hoping for a respectable performance, a goal or two, and a point or two. Hopefully a dry run for the next World Cup. I think it's the performance against Belgium that has raised Canadian expectations.

We all saw what happened on the pitch against the #2 ranked team in the world that finished in 3rd place at the last World Cup. Prior to the tournament, I think most of us were expecting Canada to fail to advance to the round of 16. Now I think we're more likely to be slightly pissed if we don't, especially if it comes down to us missing out because of points not earned against Belgium.

I'm not sure what to expect against Croatia, but the fact is they are ranked well below the Belgians.

But I'm still focused on how this WC sets us up for the 2026 WC. So many of our key players will be in the 25 to 30 year age range, plus they'll have had this WC experience to draw upon, all while playing at "home."

Was thinking about this earlier. Are each of the host countries going to play their games in their countries? Typically the location is announced before the teams in the group are sorted. If not, it’s kind of dumb because what was the point of having three host countries?
