That was not the sound after USA lose with 0-1 in WJC 20 after they have won the shoots, and you forget that this tournament is not only about the result but also about player preformance, so therefore shoots are intresting, since it is telling about how the game looked.

That is a radical point of view for a North American, since your compatriots often argue that shots on goal are almost more important than the final score! You hear that a lot in games involving Russian teams, who almost always lose the SOG battle!

I'm from NA and IMO it's ridiculous to think SOG are all equal and some great indicator of how good a team is. I also think your claim that NA's attribute some great significance to SOG's, as in almost being equal to Goals, is a ridiculous generalization.

Anyone who watched the recent US-Sweden game would see two things: 1. The US totally dominated the game and 2. The Sweden goalie didn't have a chance. The goals weren't due to him playing badly, they were due to the team being dominated.

keep thinking that. It is North American bias as always.

There certainly can be games were one team dominated with more scoring chances and more shots in tight. In this case, yersterday's game, Sweden had shots on goal way outside the dots and from the point.

The US team didn't dominate the game. The disparity in shots had a lot to do with the large number of penalties the US team took, many of which were totally unnecessary. The disparity in the score was a result of very poor defending by the Swedes. I'd say the US was the better team for sure but it could certainly be a closer game if the two teams meet later in the tournament.

The addition of the Yamamoto-Brown-Mittelstadt line was pretty crucial for this tournament as it seems they're clicking well and look like they should be able to provide the scoring depth this US team has been missing all year long. It's still very disappointing how poorly some of the players who were expected to fill this role developed this year.

What happened with the Russian team has really ruined the tournament in my eyes. I felt they'd be a serious contender for the gold.

Agree about the Russian team. Takes the shine off this tournament for me.

That straight took forever...

Is the WJC being broadcasted on any TV channels or streamed anywhere?

Looks like we held up pretty good for the first 2/3 of the 1st period. Shots were just 10-7 in favor of the US at one point.

And we get one back shorthanded. And then they score 3 goals on us in 70 seconds. 1-6 with 30 minutes played.

Thought there would have been better fan support, virtually identical to what you would have seen in Europe for this tourney.

Clearly a top end talent. Played on a line with Bellows and Anderson. That line skated thru and around Swe at will. Top end puck handling skills. There was one PK where he looked like Joe Sakic ragging the puck all over the ice.

But much, much smaller than Bellows, for example. Bellows showed good puck handling ability, too, but he looks like a tank out there. Very wide.

I'd take Bellows before Keller due to the difference in physicality and size. Keller will be a small guy in the NHL. Bellows will fit right in.

For real? Bellows over Keller? That means you cant see enough talents in Keller then or you're realy hot on Bellows

This tournament does not hold much interest the way it is aside from getting to watch a few prospects you are interested in.

It is currently just a bask in glory showcase for the U.S team, they don't have much if any competition at all.

It has taken on the feel of the old days when the Soviet Red Machine would go in and take on overmatched opponents in the olympics on route to their inevitable march to gold.

Not much drama or hockey watching excitement in that.

Despite great game against Canada and a solid perfomace against Finland, I can see us losing to either Denmark or Slovaks, which could very well put us in the 4th spot thus getting destroyed by U.S.A again. That's just the way Czech national teams roll. (Make you hopeful after games against strong teams and then struggle against the, on paper, weak ones)
