sweden outshot USA and yet lost 6-1. Terrible goalie performance.

No, definitely not the goalie's fault. It was total domination by the US. Much bigger, faster, more skilled team.

#11 Nylander is supposed to be a stud? Small cherry picker from what I saw. Total non-factor, hardly played as far as I remember. The only notable thing is what a cherry picker he is...

Third period
50:40 2 min CAN Team penalty Too Many Men
49:28 2 min CAN Team penalty Too Many Men

The shots are very misleading for this game, USA was the far superior team. They won all the board battles and had easily the most scoring chances. They play with a tempo Sweden couldn't match. The goalie this game wasn't great but not terrible either. Gustavsson will hopefully be ready by next game.

I also find it almost comical how they gave the POG award to Moverare, the guy who was embarassed on a couple of goals against. It must have been a mistake.

Swedish players usually rather pass then shoot. Maybe USA won more board battles, I do not know, no stats for that. The fact is still that we won the shoots with 35-24 but lost the game with 1-6. No matter if you think that they had better scoring chances, you can not say they where far superior when they lost the shoots with that much. Every shoot is a scoring chance (just ask Mason), and shoots are not that easy created.

No, not every shot is a chance and there is no prize for having more shots but losing. You can take 35 shots and have an 1/8th or a 1/4 be scoring chances.

That was not the sound after USA lose with 0-1 in WJC 20 after they have won the shoots, and you forget that this tournament is not only about the result but also about player preformance, so therefore shoots are intresting, since it is telling about how the game looked.

Czech Republic outshot Canada 39:28 and still lost 1:3. Did anyone see the game? Czech media say we played really good

Canada dominated 1st period.

2nd and 3rd periode. Fitzpatrick made some great saves and showed why he's gonna be the 1st goalie picked.

Chzech deserved a better results.

He is a stud, but yeah he wasnt very good yesterday but watch him more and you will understand, sick skills and shot and in todays NHL thats is gold. This swedish team is struggling right now, so unbalanced as a team, just not good enough.
Keller looks great btw.

A comment about Keller?

Clearly a top end talent. Played on a line with Bellows and Anderson. That line skated thru and around Swe at will. Top end puck handling skills. There was one PK where he looked like Joe Sakic ragging the puck all over the ice.

But much, much smaller than Bellows, for example. Bellows showed good puck handling ability, too, but he looks like a tank out there. Very wide.

I'd take Bellows before Keller due to the difference in physicality and size. Keller will be a small guy in the NHL. Bellows will fit right in.

It didn't seem like he got very much ice time, either. The Sweden PP was horrible. I noticed that he wasn't out there very much on the PP. The only time I did notice him on the PP was at the left point. I'm sure the kid has some crazy skills or he wouldn't be rated so high, but unless you were watching for him specifically, you wouldn't notice him. Other than the fact he was always hanging back, very slow to get into his own defensive zone. Sweden almost connected on a long bomb pass to him but it didn't quite click.

Keller showed the kind of elite puck skills I was looking for from Nylander.

They did not, but they played well.

Who is/are Latvia's best player(s) eligible for the 2016 Draft? Who should I be focusing on out there that might make an impact in the NHL?

Honestly this is a pretty avarage roster even for us, im still surprised that we played as well as we have against both the swiss and swedes.
With that said i dont see much in terms of NHL potential with this team probably the closest you could get to that is Roberts Bļugers #21 http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=226434 played this season in the USHS shattuck st marys midget prep and will play in NCAA next season - fun fact he is the younger brother of Teodors Bļugers who was drafted in 2012 in 2nd round by Pittsburgh

Blugers has been quiet though. Erlends Klavins is a nice big kid with a nice name, also has had some success recently, HK Riga tree.
