If the WHL series' continue to trend in the direction they are, we could see Dube, Howden and Gregor added to the roster very soon, which would be a huge boost for the offense.

Wow

This this tops everything now

In a canadian wjc thread I am being told to go back to talking about the wjc by a non canadian( cough cough american) i could say so much but ill hold my typing

Its not the point of me straying off subject its the point of being told what to do on a canadian thread by a non canadian(cough cough americano)

Maybe i should go on the american thread and do some trolling. But I have better things to do

lol wow, you sure have a sensitive trigger amigo...

I don't give two ***** about nationality when it comes to these tournaments, I'm just trying to hear about the WJC! It's not hard to keep the Canadian vs. American **** measuring contest in a different thread. I didn't even say anything negative about your clear hatred for American players, all I'm saying is that none of this is relevant to the WJC. If you want to make a list of Canadian defenseman under-23, you certainly have the right to do that. It just dilutes the thread when all I'm here for is to learn about the Canadian roster for this tournament, in preparation for the WJC.

Think about it, you went off on that long hate-filled spiel because I asked if we could talk about the WJC in the WJC thread, really think about it bro. Nationality has literally nothing to do with it, I posted in this thread before you anyways lol, I'm probably a bigger fan of the Canadian team than you :help:

I think the roster can do well, I wouldn't say they are favourites just because even if they had more talent, they need to gain a ton of chemistry. The Americans are always playing as a unit and as a team right from the start, so we'll have to catch up in that aspect of the game. I would rather not have a guy like Logan Stanley on the team with these defencemen, we don't need a 6'6 defenceman that has trouble pivoting against fast teams in this tournament.

I like the make-up on the team, good variety of players. McLeod is excellent defensively and on the face-offs, Jost is an offensive stud he will be the top offensive player at this tournament, Bitten, Kyrou have a ton of speed and intensity, Malenstyn, Laberge, Shaw are good secondary scorers with grit. We got the best '99 forwards and if they are playing in a secondary role, they can be dangerous. I would have left Anderson-Dolan at home in favour of a '98 centre.

A key thing though, Brandon is up 2-0 on Moose Jaw and the next two games are Tuesday, April 12th, and Wednesday April 13th. The series could end and Howden/Gregor could fly over to North Dakota and join the team for their first game, if not the 2nd game. It seems as if HC as already set their roster though.

Not exactly. Ryan Jankowski has said a few times that some of the 99s are there to play in exhibition games and get their feet wet internationally. If indeed Moose Jaw goes down in four, you can bet Howden and Gregor will replace two of the 99s.

I'm surprised how many 99s HC went with in this roster. Players like Anderson-Dolan, Tippet and Vilardi didn't produce the numbers you'd expect out of an underagers making the team. I haven't seen Anderson-Dolan play but for Tippet and Vilardi, I wonder where they will play as they aren't expected to be top 6 guys at this point and their game doesn't really fit a bottom 6 role.

I would've have substituted two of these players for guys like Smith and Barron to bring more physicality and edge to the team.

As I just said above, it is very likely they won't be on the final roster.

"The roster includes select under-age players invited to play in pre-tournament games to gain added experience in international competition. Players from across the CHL that have been eliminated from playoff action will be added to complete the roster for the tournament."

From the Hockey Canada press release where the team was announced.

Morrison finished tied for 2nd in USHL scoring this year. He's a legit prospect who should be a 2nd round pick in the NHL. He's a huge addition to the lineup.

As for who replaces Bean. HC will likely wait until a few more teams get eliminated from the playoffs in the CHL. See if they can snag someone there. For example, if Charlottetown can finish off Shawinigan, Samuel Girard would look damn good.

If not, I don't think they look at Day. Should they? Perhaps. But I think they were really unimpressed with what they saw at this summer's Ivan Hlinka and at the U17's last year.

They'd be more likely to go with someone like Riley Stillman (who I know they were looking at), or even the OJHL's Matthew Cairns (although his Georgetown team is about to play in the OJHL final so he likely wouldn't be available anyway).

If Shawinigan gets eliminated on the 14th I think they would probably add Girard before Day honestly. Girard also replaces more of what they are losing in Bean with his offense.

Yeah I agree with Brock

Hi guys, stay with me for a moment, im really trying to understand this situation with sean day.

Many of the pospects on TC u18 will go 1st or 2nd round

Now, by bypassing sean day, does TC think he will go after the 2nd round and therfore not in the same level as thier current players?

I see that there are a few 2017 draft prospects, are they saying they are better than Day?

I remember the paul coffee comparisons from people on this board

What happened, you just dont fall off the map this way?????!!!!!!

I don't think HC really cares about draft position or the hype of particular prospects. They put a lot of emphasis on character and assigning specific roles for particular players. It's the reason they cut Day and Logan Brown from the Hlinka team this summer. It's the reason they didn't invite Josh Ho-Sang to the WJC camp.

It's not about a player being a better NHL prospect. It's about that player being a good fit for team Canada.

He was super overrated by Canadian media.. he never should have been granted exceptional status.

Vilardi and Morand were cut from the team.

Morand is a bit surpising. At most Comtois Rasmussen and Tippett should be there for 99s. Most will likely be replaced by 98s though. Anderson-Dolan isn't ready, don't know why Felhaber wasn't invited.

On top of that, does Day intend to represent Canada internationally? The sense I got is now he has US citizenship, he wanted to play for them.

In any event, I don't see any d-men on the current roster who Day would have justifiably replaced, notwithstanding any concerns HC had with his attitude.
