I was hoping that Chychrun would join Brown with USA at some point in the future and would skip this event. Too bad.

I would like to feel as you do but with the amount of duals the U.S is getting I do not feel we can afford to be that picky.

We have to welcome as much talent as we can get, we have to try to keep pace as best we can.

It's a dog eat dog world.

while the question of duals doesn't bother me as much as it bothers Jack, here's a suggestion for Hockey Canada, instead of recruiting duals, how about Hockey Canada do something about minor hockey development in Quebec. They have absolutely dropped the ball in that province for about 15 years. And by they, I mean Hockey Quebec. and it's time Hockey Canada address those issues with Hockey Quebec. Then HC wouldn't have to spend a second wondering if sons of Canadians born and raised in the U.S. while their fathers eked out a living in pro hockey would come home or not.

Do something about Quebec.

Thankfully we have the GTHL.

It'll be interesting to see how the forwards shape out, I could see

Jost-McLeod-Bitten
Comtois-Morand-Laberge
Shaw-Rasmussen-Kyrou
Dolan-Malenstyn-Vilardi
Tippet

but what do I know

I hear you, their player production has sucked for years now and I've been railing against HockeyQuebec for a long time.

Any suggestions on how we fix that?

I think hockey costs might be the biggest problem of all though.

I think the fact they are now forcing AAA to only accept second year players might help???? Instead of a mix of younger and oler now the same aged player play aginst each other in AAA ? Will that help?

maybe there are to many teams?

And maybe we should get some coaches who actually know how to coach and PAY the coaches???

Make hockey more affordable????

I would love to see them make hockey more affordable, not sure how it can really be done.

I didn't know about what is going on with AAA.

I bet Mr Writer has some good ideas about what could be done concerning HockeyQuebec.

The team is much better than last year's. More fire power up front, 3 solid goaltenders, an excellent defensive core. I thought they'd leave a couple '99s at home and go with more experience in the last few players, but it's a lot of skill.

I don't agree. Its got a half-dozen good players, after that meh and too young. depending on who becomes available while the tournament is in progress, I'd rate last year's team better. This team will be in a fight to even contend for a medal. That's my take. We shall see.

Wow

This is a young team. Are they waiting on second round elimination?

Also the defence looks good

Im very surprised that sean day wasnt invited to this tournament

Very surpised. I think hc doped the ball on this one

Question to all

Is sean day not better than these 2017?

Nicolas Hague?
Marcus Phillips?

Is he that bad for an exceptional status player?

From the press release, near the end it states that they're taking these 99 players for the pre-tournament games to fill out the roster and get them more international experience.

The roster includes select under-age players invited to play in pre-tournament games to gain added experience in international competition. Players from across the CHL that have been eliminated from playoff action will be added to complete the roster for the tournament.

So the answer is I guess technically yes, because Day should have already been named to the roster if he were coming. However there will be more players added as additional teams are eliminated.

unless there are a few 4 game sweeps in the 2nd rd., I don't suspect there'll be any significant reinforcements coming.

The vast majority of 2nd rd. CHL matchups have yet to start.

I really don't know how I feel about that Hockey Canada internal rule of once a player plays at the u20 WJC he can't play at the u18. A guy like Gauthier would add a lot of skill and leadership to a group of young forwards.

I think Chychrun gets named captain unless maybe Dubois goes, but CAP won their first game against the Sea Dogs and the earliest they could be eliminated is the 15th so I don't see him going either. If CAP makes the sweep maybe Luke Green gets added from Saint John? Anything can happen but realistically I see maybe 4 possibilities of 2nd round sweeps for the whole CHL and honestly the teams I think would be eliminated don't really have anything to offer the u18 team so what you see is pretty much gonna be what you get.

What rule? Gauthier is to old.

It's a stupid freaking rule to be applied across the board on every player. McDavid as a 16 year old dominated the tournament, so no need to send him back...but Hockey Canada has stupid rules up the wazoo. They swim in stupid rules.

In the Dub I think you have the possibility of Howden and Steel being available around the start - both MJ and Regina are underdogs and 5 games seems realistic. Both were at Hlinka so they would have no issue taking them late. The other series will likely go longer. A little surprised that one or two of the Blazers draft eligibles didnt at least get a camp invite.

Sean Day has American citizenship now. Yet TBD if he will be good enough to play on either country's national teams, but going forward it sounds like he prefers the US.

I find many american players are overhyped
