After Fitzpatrick there are a few interesting options for the back-up role. Stuart Skinner as previously mentioned, Ryan Kubic, and Jack LaFontaine should all be candidates along with Dylan Wells (unfortunately) and Joseph Raaymakers. Would really like to see Jack LaFontaine there but I don't think that's possible even though the tourney starts on April 14th and the NAHL playoffs don't start until May...literally a month after the regular season ends.

Mississauga was knocked out of the playoffs tonight (so were Sarnia and Peterborough).

So McLeod and Tippett are both available.

So is Sean Day...but i'm assuming he wants to play for the US going forward??

Lines are just what I threw together... Not sure how many 99's they will take (I'd assume 3 or 4) but this is the team I'd throw together. Not sure what to do down the middle, I want to place Viladri or Laberge there but not sure how much they have been playing C.

Morrison- Jost- Bitten
Comtois- McLeod- Kyrou
Morand- Ang- Laberge
Barron- Vilardi- Smith
Tippett

Chychrun- Fabbro
Bean- Fleury
Stanley- Quenneville
Hague

Skinner
Fitzpatrick

Others I would consider:
Garrett Pilon, Tyler Steenbergen, Michael Rasmussen
Cole Candella, Dennis Cholowski (if he becomes available)
Reilly Pickard, Michael DiPietro

Did Sean Day suddenly get citizenship? Remember Day was never a US citizen, and only had Canadian.

Pretty sure he tweeted about it awhile ago, I donno if they will cut a kid whose put time in on the USNDP to give him a spot though.

Day has US citizenship, but USAH named its team today.

They would cut a NTDP player if they felt it makes the team better, hence why Khodorenko, Suthers, and Campoli were all left off in favor of Brown, Yamamoto, and Middelstadt. But I doubt they'd consider Day worthy of that type of move even if it weren't too late.

Yeah...he's got US citizenship. And given most of his upbringing in North America has been in the US, I think it's reasonable that, given all options, he'd prefer to play for the US.

Edit - apologies, I made the first comment in the post before reading your own.

So Logan Brown can only play for Team USA at international events moving forward?

Looks like the OHL will have about 8-9 guys on this team.

If I were to hazard a guess as to who makes it...

Locks: Jakob Chychrun, Will Bitten, Jordan Kyrou, Michael McLeod, Nic Hague, Logan Stanley

50/50: Jonathan Ang, Sean Day, Riley Stillman, Dylan Wells, Givani Smith, Michael Dipietro, Owen Tippett, Gabriel Vilardi, Travis Barron, Tye Felhaber, Matthew Strome, Jonah Gadjovich

Any Official Invites named yet...???

I will assume Day gets an Invite also Chycrun and Fabbro

Did you not read back? From what I know Bitten, Jost, Quenneville, and Fabbro are invites.

Whats your problem ? I was only asking if there was anything on day chycrun and fabbro. Something "official"

But thanks for the reply anyways

Im reading back...no news? tournament starts in less than 10 days....

I mean...shouldn't team Canada get moving on this??

This tournament is not high up on Hockey Canada's priority list, in fact it is pretty low on their agenda. They'll scramble together a team a week before the tournament of available players, have 1 or two practices and then fill out a few more roster spots as the tournament is in progress.

I think USAH and Hockey Canada make a backroom deal where they agreed to concede the IIHF tournament to the USNTDP and Hockey Canada go guns blazes for that epic summer classic, the Hlinka.

Why would they do that?

I agree with your first statement about the scrambling but i dont agree with your second. I think both countries view both tournaments in different light

Anyways i thought maybe there would be some official site where the names of this years u18 were posted

Thanks

I don't think it's about being low priority. It's just bad timing for Hockey Canada given that most of the country's talent comes from the CHL.
