Great sportsmanship all the way around: The Russians, Americans, and Canadians.

Sorry, I don't mean to create a problem, but could you explain what the Canadian players did that was poor sportsmanship?

I honestly can't really think of what they did?

I live in Canada, but am not a Canadian Homer. fact is when somebody buys a ticket they have the right to cheer for who they want(unless you go to Oakland to see a aiders game).

I think hes more or less talkin about the Canadiens on this board.

Either way.. The Americans and American fans need to take this loss like men. From the sound of things Russia came in here, and kicked our a-s. Learn from it.. and come out stronger next year. We ARE a good team.. There's no denying that. Wasn't our year this year.

The way the US team has been treated this whole tournament is embarassing in my opinion. Booing Jack Johnson isn't bad, but the "US Sucks" chants and the signs being shown on the scoreboards are garbage. If the fans are booing because they want the US to lose out of some bizarre idea that it will mean Canada has an easier game, guess again. I think I'd rather have faced the US than Russia in the Gold Medal game.

The "goodbye chant" now? Gimme a break.

Can someone please explain to me why you believe so strongly that the Canadian fans should be supporting the US team over the Russians?

Other than some xenophobic North America vs. Europe thing (and the cold war ended 15 years ago so read a newspaper once in a while) I don't see any reason why the crowd should favour the USA a priori over Russia.

NYC2, I agree with what your saying with the tournaments being held up here in Canada but remember, outside of Quebec and Vancouver, the fans in Canada are very classy and show good sportsmanship!!

This tourney has been a disgrace for the fans at GM place.......hopefully Russia will silence them come Thursday!!

They are. It's ridiculous. Whenever my team is out I always want to root for my neighbors because why would I want to root for someone else? But classless people like the Canadian fans up there make it so hard and it has gotten really bad in this tournament, from beginning to now. Really poor imo. I would be very disappointed in my fellow fans if they did that to Canada.
