That has nothing to do with the staff of GM Place. The Russians are the "home team" by virtue of being the #1 seed and therefore earn all the trappings that go with it.

Note, I was referring to the goal horn, last change and last stick down in the faceoff. Not the fans.

It amazes me that that surprises you. Guess what? Canadians have cheered for the Russians over Americans for years. WJC 1995 comes to mind.

In addition, no one cares! It really has nothing to do with class. It has to do with picking favorites, and the whining that follows when your team isn't picked. Grow up.

I'm watching the game live in High Def right now, I honestly didn't hear much of that. Maybe a few people started one but it hasn't been widespread. Yet another thing getting blown out of proportion by people hearing and seeing what they want to.

I dunno what's uglier at this point, this thread or the game itself.

I live in Canada, but am not a Canadian Homer. fact is when somebody buys a ticket they have the right to cheer for who they want and how they want(unless you go to Oakland to see a Raiders game).

I guess I'm the only one who heard the cheering when Skille made it 2-1. This booing/cheering thing is getting blown out of proportion. The fans are boing Johnson but aside from that they're just cheering goals, big hits and good plays. Russia happens to have had a lot more of those than the US in this game.

Colonel, you have not been paying attention to this tourney or you are wearing lovely Canuck colored glasses. The fans are not booing/cheering goals and hits or good plays they are booing USA and cheering Russia, any who say differently are just ignoring facts.

The management of GM PLace has created a very anti US atmosphere and all the excuses about "home team" and "they are doing the same things for each team" as far as using the goal horn and playing music to celebrate scoring is in fact contributing to the ugliness I have seen and heard here in the last week.

I do not have a good feeling for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics if they are to be played in this type of atmosphere.

I'm embarrassed as a Canadian but what else do you expect from a city like that. I guess when Russia beats us in the final they'll burn buildings and riot again or is that only when you blow it in the stanley cup finals?

If the tourney was in America and it was Canada/Russia I'm sure they would all be cheering Canada.

What is wrong with this country when more people are cheering for Russia over the USA.

I sure hope it's just a French/BC thing.
