The "goodbye chant" now? Gimme a break.

That was just pathetic. Out of all of the things that have bothered others this was the only thing that pissed me off. That's o.k., because team canada will have their hands full and then some. And now the Russians are saluting the Canadian fans!!! That's it screw the Vancouver crowd, go Russia!!!

Wake up and look at the world around you.

So, this constant booing of the US does have something to do with the country, and not just because they are the "favorites" in the tourney. Well, at least we can get a bronze medal out of this.

They are. It's ridiculous. Whenever my team is out I always want to root for my neighbors because why would I want to root for someone else? But classless people like the Canadian fans up there make it so hard and it has gotten really bad in this tournament, from beginning to now. Really poor imo. I would be very disappointed in my fellow fans if they did that to Canada. :shakehead

Did you read this Seachd this might clear your opinion up some but iam guessing it won't.

I still can't believe us little insignificant Canadians can have such an impact on Americans. I didn't think they cared what anyone else thought of them.

Guys, try to have some freaking maturity.

This whole thread is turning into garbage.

I'm from Edmonton and don't understand what the hell the fans in Vancouver were doing. Why would they cheer for the Russians? USA vs Canada would have been a sweet final and I was cheering for USA all the way. Every year the Russians make me want to puke because of their cockiness and dirty play. Why would "we" be cheering for them? To the USA fans that watched this display, don't think all of Canada was like this, was a bunch of Vancouver fans making us all look bad.

Why does the Russia Coach have no class?

He wants to show the Russia means business. That they can hit and play. That they wont give up no matter what like previous Russian teams. Malkin is a big boy and if u saw the stats todday there are other guys on the team who can score.

All i can say to all the american fans complaining about the booing is welcome to our world. How do u guys think we felt at every international hockey game since Russia entered international hockey?

No way in hell I'd ever cheer for the Oilers or Canucks

Wouldn't you rather see Canada win than the crowd lose?

Can someone please explain to me why you believe so strongly that the Canadian fans should be supporting the US team over the Russians?

The most obvious one is the fact that a Canuck draft pick is defending the net at the US end, and no players on the Russian team. Most normal fans attending a game that they are not involved in will try and find something to cheer *for*. One of your own players, a player that you like, etc.

That's not the case here.

It's a little bit from option A, a little bit from option B. It's just good clean fun. If the Russian's were the favorites i would think part of the crowd would be behind the US.

20000+ in the Garage for both games ya Im sure Vancouver wont be getting a WJC for awhile....Maybe they should go back to Boston for the WJC you wont hear any booing or cheering or anything cause no one is in the arena. :shakehead

Or North Dakota where it will be full of Canadians. :)

What's wrong with the Russian players acknowledging the fans for their support?

:biglaugh: Go watch your baseball then.

Not to interrupt because that guy can go watch his baseball - but in the meantime, I'll be watching Toews go in the 2nd round for pulling an incredible dissapearing act in the WJC's, and applauding the team that get's Kessel at #1st overall.

The way the US team has been treated this whole tournament is embarassing in my opinion. Booing Jack Johnson isn't bad, but the "US Sucks" chants and the signs being shown on the scoreboards are garbage. If the fans are booing because they want the US to lose out of some bizarre idea that it will mean Canada has an easier game, guess again. I think I'd rather have faced the US than Russia in the Gold Medal game.

The "goodbye chant" now? Gimme a break.

I have to agree somewhat as a Canadian. What upsets me about it is that these are KIDS. They are not professional players (for the most part) and don't deserve the poor treatment. I really felt bad for Walt Kyle. He is a classy guy and deserves better. In other sports, Canadians probably feel Americans are arrogant and selfish (guys like Roenick, Tkachuk, Chelios, etc probably didn't help that). However, this is a completely different team full of kids. I wish the anti-American sentiments weren't so intense in Vancouver.

Anyone who thinks the booing was only for the team is nieve. It has to do with the country.

"We" should be cheering for Russia because "our" number-one rivals are the United States; therefore, ABUSA.
