I think coaching was a big issue. In all the games I watched, Canada didn't use the point hardly at all. Just had fwds trying to force stupid cross creases from teh corners. Over and over again, they would get stuffed by a collapsing team and continue to generate zero offense, but the fwds refused to even move the puck up top.

I'm not sure if this was because our d-core wasn't capable of generating offense, or coaching, but it was a big factor as to why this team couldn't really do anything against any actual decent team this tournament.

Holy sh*t. Didn't even watch the game but just saw the recap. You could literally hear canadian fans screams of terror after the game winning goal :D

This was one of the worst coached teams Canada has ever sent to the tournament. Another issue was the Roster Construction. A few great offensive players were left home, that were head scratchers for me. However, that being said Congrats to the Czechs on advancing. It just was not our year.

I've watched the replays over and over before posting as I wanted to be sure, there's no way at this level those first two goals should have gone in, Rousseau has to make those stops, period.

I guess you could say those Czech shots could have used some more…

The Canadian managers seem to love the 30 point players. Push them out time and again with no results. 50 point Rehkopf told to pick slivers out of his butt on the bench. 4 minutes a game.

Probably Sweden and CR. Latvia and Finland don’t carry the same weight in terms of powerhouses. Everyone knows for the most part it’s Canada, US, Russia, Sweden and Czechs and then some other team on a magical run.
I think you should go and check which team has the second most championships in the U20 in the last 10 years.

In which decade you are living? 1990's? In the last 20 years Russia has 2 gold medals, Sweden 1 and Czech 0. Finland has 3 magical runs so at what point it's no longer magical?

Because the russian team would be good enough to win this tournament

And not having them there brings into question if the best team won, or if the best team wasn’t allowed to compete.

Would be the same if Canada, or USA, or Sweden weren’t in the tournament
It is what it is. Still doesn't prove a damn thing. Russia could be the worse team there for all we know. They weren't allowed to participate. Moot question.

Which is why the entire tournament deserves to be questioned

EDIT: it’s such a really weird take that this forum is overwhelmingly in favor of ostracizing Russian kids and hockey players.

I’m never at a loss for surprise in people’s inability to use their own brains

The only thing worse than "Things would be different if Player X was here" is "Things would be different if Team X was here".

Who cares?

They aren't there, there are enough teams left to host a tournament.

It's certainly a better tournament missing Team X than it would be missing Team W, V, Y and Z which is what would happen if Team X was here.

You want to put an asterisk next to it? Ok, fill your boots.

Meanwhile everyone else gets on with their lives and watches the hockey.
