They should have sat back and defended their line to deny Canada quality zone entries. Had they done that it would have forced Canada to dump and chase or into lots of turnovers on zone entries.

Instead, Czechia kept on gambling in the neutral zone. They always stepped up trying to force turnovers. Up against an opponent trying to fly your zone that's a dangerous thing to do.

It’s not like Canada got a ton of odd-man rushes.

Most of their play was off the cycle with possession.

They did have too many. Wood scored on one of them.

Canada had lots of quality zone entries as well. Even if not all of them were odd man rushes, it was still too easy for them. Led to established possession in the offensive zone and Czechia having to chase.

I felt like that was at least partly self inflicted because of Czechia always looking to step up in the neutral zone.
