Yeah, and we lost anyway. The second Schneider was pulled, the game was over. I knew it. Maybe you didn't, but I did.

So, we don't pull him and it ends in a tie. What would that get us? Bragging rights on a board like this that it was really a tie. It is all about seeding in the tourny. We lost the #1 seed with the 2-2 Swiss game.

It was warranted with that cheap shot.

Yeah saying a whole entire country sucks because one player elbowed another is warrented.
I didn't mean it that way, but I can understand the frustration.

Why are some of the us fans constantly whinnig about the us suck chants?? Common its a rivalry, your constant whinning is ridiculious.

Geez, Center Ice could not cut away from that game fast enough. Not even a chance to see post game stuff.

I wonder if people have noticed that Downie gave Johnson a hack right as they crossed the blueline...

I bet not...

I know, that was almost as bad as the US sucks chant.

Almost as bad????

Let's see, a chant compared to a cheap shot that almost breaks a guy's jaw.

I think it's obvious which is worse.

If replays show that the elbow connects hard and Downie's out for a while, Johnson should receive a tournament suspension. This is not to say that it all of a sudden invalidates the game that Johnson played because he was the best American player on the ice.

Call me a traitor though, but that elbow makes me want Johnson for my NHL team even more. With all of his offensive talent, skating ability and defensive sense, it shows a serious edge of nastiness that is needed for a true number one defenseman in the NHL.

Of course, if you switch sides of the whole thing and Canada is about to have an empty-netter scored on them, I don't think that I would be at all surprised if Downie throws an elbow like that at someone else.

that was a fabulous game, played at breakneck speed/pace - congrats to both teams...as a montrealer and canadian, i can honestly say the USA hockey program has come a long way..skille really impressed me tonight -as did boyd, parent and comeau for canuckleheads
onward to the medal round

Actually, after the Bertuzzi incedent every Canuck fan was branded many worse things ;)

and if Johnson was from BC, the BC crowd would be very forgiving. :sarcasm:

Let's not go into this **** again. Come on boys, seriously.

Good game. Too bad about the finish. Hope to see a rematch. I'm going to leave now while I still have my skin...

I wonder if people noticed that Johnson actually hacked Downie first?

I bet not...

That was nothing more than a tap. Come on.

And??

Chip was cruising in for the tap in goal, Downie didnt even need to enter the offensive zone, let alone hack at Johnson.

How did his arm not shatter on that one?

Decent game by both teams, Canada I think had the edge in play though.

Very impressed by Oshie and E. Johnson.

Not impressed with Cogliano and Kessel.

Truth be told people, either team has so far shown that they will be able to dangle with the Russians, who are, in my books anyway, the real team to beat.

They gave each other a poke. It was all stick too, but the point is moot.

That is very odd. How is that not a match penalty? The ref was right there so maybe we can't see what happened with the one camera angle TSN showed.

Thats what I'm thinking. Even the angle they showed for the hit did not look that devastating. It very well could have been, though, but from that view it didn't look as bad as Downie portrayed. Still, I can't say that it wasn't as bad as Downie portrayed. I definitely will give himi the benefit of the doubt here as the intent of JJ regardless was to hurt him...even if he did or did not succeed. Strange though that TSN would not show any other angles....Sucks for us that we could not see it closer up. I wonder if something was said or if they were just slashing back and forth on each other.
