Wow, some Canadian fans are quite sore winners... you should be happy about your victory rather than mock Russia/Ovechkin/whatever...

OUTWIITED, OUTPLAYED, OUTLASTED !!!

As simple as that.

Congrats TEAM CANADA, this was by far the BEST CANADIAN WJC TEAM EVER.

It could now be put along the best Russian teams ever ............................. Just kidding.

CELEBRATE AS YOU SHOULD ALL !

I just replied to someone else who said this and I'll say it again...

Ovechkin brought that on himself.
If he showed class he would have been shown class.

I don't know exactly what Ovechkin did to deserve that but it sounded like he had killed someone. Like Foppa_rules said your team already won the game IMO the crowd should've just concentrated on celebrating, NOT to kick a man when he's already down. That just isn't right. I have never witnessed anything like that before. Let's not make a big deal out of this I just wanted to bring this up 'cos I thought that was just cruel...
Anyway I would like to say again that the better team won, congrats!

Classy post. :handclap: :)

Congratulations to undrafted Danny Syvret with the winner. That's the best part in my opinion - 30 NHL GMs can be that wrong, twice. It proves this board is necessary!

You are talking about Class?...and on behalf of Ovechkin? Boy, that's a good one!

True champions play with broken arm like Kevin Lowe, with broken ribs like Saku Koivu, with broken leg like Davy Ellot.

They do not show boat and rub salt into the wounds of their opponents then two days later make a public display of a sore shoulder to make sure that the whole world sees his excuse for quitting and then walks out on his team. What a SHAMEFUL DISPLAY for himself, for his teammates and for his country.

This OVECHKIN is nothing more than a CLASSIC CASE OF A PRIMADONNA QUITTER!!!

This is the guy who wants to be like Owen Nolan??!!?? Gimme a break! He was a whining little brat of a boy back when he was flopping around on the ice when he was 16 and he has not grown up one little bit!! The best thing for him at this time is a big slice of humble pie and he just got a little taste of it. He's gonna have to do a lot of growing up if he wants to be a man.

THIS is why I would take Malkin over this quitter any time!

The sad thing is that this guy is already twice the warrior that Nolan is.

Indeed.....INSTEAD kick a whole TEAM while they're down like Alexander and Malkin did Monday night......right?

You're preaching to the choir here my friend. :shakehead

Bergeron MVP

Ovechkin voted best forward, and for the record, wasn't on the ice for any of Canada's goals. Malkin was -3.

Full Congrats to Team Canada!

See, this is what I find hilarious. He gets insulted because a few years ago he got cross-checked in the back but immediately came back on for the powerplay, and then gets insulted now because he went to the dressing room for an injury in a blowout game.

I've never been a big fan of booing in general, but it's really hard to not boo Ovechkin after the taunting and cockiness he has shown....I would not have booed him, he's an all-star and a talented player, but he brought a lot of the heat on himself and the fans got carried away...it was unfortunate...Ovechkin will have many chances to turn the boos to cheers in the future and hopefully he continues to get better and mature...more importantly, hopefully he does not let the boos get to him and continue with the same behaviour out of protest or anything like that, because it will just be sad for everyone...

Astute observation if true. If the Russians split the two stars if tells the tale. That didn't seem to work in any other game they tried it.

If he got cross-checked and came back like a man then there would be no story to tell. However, the guy lay flopping around out on the ice for good 5 minutes like he was shot by a rifle until all the medical staff came out to draw a penalty then bounces right back on his feet to come back on the power play.

Yup! A real class...I would have thought that he would have grown up even a little in three years...but no, I think that he actually regressed and has become an even bigger baby!

And this is what I find hilarious. If you can't see why these two actions by this cry baby is pathetic, then...why I even bother...

Not a big accomplishment when you're in the dressing room or chained to the bench for most of the game.

Well when you only play for a period your plus minus shouldn't be effected that badly.

Well, you wouldn't believe the 'compliments' that got thrown at me after the World Cup of Hockey final here in Toronto. To honour Team Finland's great run, I decided to walk through downtown Toronto and the celebrating crowd to my flat, wearing Team Finland jersey and with a big flag. It took 45 mins. and I have never been insulted so many times in my life before. Great fans, ganging up on a lone fan of the other team. I was a bit surprised, because Team Canada had won after all.

However, I still wouldn't say that Canadian hockey fans are the scum of the earth or anything like that, because there are lots of classy, intelligent and polite people as well. Some of them here on the boards.

congratulations to team Canada for the gold medal,
congratulations to russia for silver and
congratulations to chzecks for bronze
congratulations to USA for 4th place
congratulations to every other team PARTICIPATING

The fact you weren't 'physically' attacked should be a compliment to the Canadian fans, if you were to walk down a street in many countries after their national sport was played wearing an opposition jersey, I'd fear for your life :)
