Weird game so far, you can definitely tell that this is day 1 of the tournament. These rosters do seem relatively weak for both nations compared to what we've seen over the past 5-10 years. That said, either team is still more than capable of winning gold.

I mean in all honesty? If both Canada and Finland played like this? Slovakia would've won with a similar performance like in the game before.
Especially against the finns. Helenius and Nyman haven't been creating anything worth mentioning. But Mikkola sure has taken some strange decisions as well.

I sense I'm in the minority here but I definitely prefer watching NHL to juniors...it's just a much better product as far as hockey goes.

I do LOVE to watch the prospects I can't watch too often though.
I doubt it. Most people watch WJC to see their teams prospects

Agreed, I am sensing the personnel just isn't there for Canada this year but like you said, it's early.

Last years Canada before this would've beaten this years Finland with 6 goals or more and actually, last years Finnish teams would have beaten both these teams.

But yeah, first game. Canada are on a bigger ice and and there could be some nervous players etc.

Last year Canada lost its first game 5-2 and everyone was talking about how the team sucked and wouldn’t make it past the quarterfinals, and we know how that worked out in the end. This thread is full of people who don’t know hockey at all

this tourney has gotten weaker over the years.
There was a time it would build up through the week and the smos and finals would be the best hockey anyone would see all year.
The used to go all out hell bent , leaving it all on the ice.
"Playing the right way" was thrown out the window.
If Canada improves with each game and makes the finals we may yet see some spectacular games.
States and Swedes considered favorites ( by the supposed experts. ha! )

yeah I'm the opposite. I watch more World Junior games in a year than I do regular season NHL games.

2 of Canadas last 3 golds started with us getting absolutely pasted in the first game. People are looking back on those teams with the benefit of hindsight like they weren’t being mercilessly shit all over on Boxing Day and now saying this team doesn’t stack up lol we will find out as the tournament progresses
