It helps distract the Americans from talking about their pathetic hockey team.

Any American hockey fan proud of this team doesn't deserve to be an American hockey fan.

Ugh. Totally disgusted.

Let's talk about how Finland outplayed the Americans because they outworked and outclassed them. I'm ashamed of this team. Period.

Let's talk about that.

Finland just wanted it more. If the US had wanted it, they'd be playing tonight for the gold.

I also think that Walt Kyle should have said something to the team about losing with some damn diginity and class after the game against Canada, when JJ threw the infamous elbow.

Not to sound rude, but:

Have the people who get so upset about the booing ever actually played competitive hockey before?

It is an honest question, because if you have played hockey before you would know that booing isn't a big deal, and that booing is part of the game.

You may even know that booing can serve as a big motivator. Some players would even go as far as to say that they like being booed, because it fires them up and helps them focus.

This U.S.A. team, although they are teenagers, they are still probably very used to be being booed in their hockey careers. I bet that they don't exactly care about being booed, and may even like being booed.

By the time you reach the age to be drafted into the NHL, getting booed isn't exactly something that these juinior players would be worried about.

 Korpikoski.

I'm very impressed with this guy. Once again he was one of the best player on the ice and I'm really looking forward to the moment he joins the Rangers.

Do you show this type of outrage when CHL teams are booed?

Because that happens too.

The American fans are simply not getting ticked off because the team itself is getting booed, but because the fans are booing the country as well. A lot of the Canadian fans are trying to rationalize this treatment by saying that the only reason the Americans were getting booed is because they were the favorites coming into this tournament. But, if this same exact team came from Norway or some other country, do you really think that they would be treated the same way simply because they were the favorites? I don't think so.

I'm just so dissapointed in this team. I really wish that they could have at least gotten a medal. But, I guess they got what they deserved for playing like crap. Talent will only take you so far.

Wow...I can't beleive this. USA has a much much better team. Well congrats to Finland anyway for a great bronze medal.

The better team doesn't always win, we are proof. The team who wanted it the most won and they deserve that. Congrats to Finland. :)

I much rather have a team who plays all heart than a team with a lot of talent that doesn't know what to do with it.

That makes me happy to read. I can't wait until he's over here too.

Congrats to Finland, really worked hard and did what had to be done.

Better luck to USA next tournament.

Congrats to Finland, the hardest working team in the tourney.
Don't knock the US team, either.
Most of these guys are gonna be great NHLers for years to come and play in the Olympics. And just about any other hockey country in the world would love to finish top 4 in this elite tournament.

Agree 100%.

I can't cheer for a team that doesn't want to win, not matter what flag they fly. Reminds me of the NCAA baseball title game a few years back where Cal-State-Fullerton defeated Texas, and the Texas team refused to come out to accept the runner-up award.

Remember the old days, when there was a OBVIOUS conflict between the Minnesota-ish players and the New Englanders on our national teams? Our team chemistry in this tourney seemed no better than that.

Not all the Americans played poorly; except for that garbage hit on Downie which was completely uncalled for, Jack Johnson played very well in my opinion. Erik Johnson was a pleasant suprise as well, and should go high in the draft.

Well said.

That's why I love the Finns. They play to win because of pride, not expectations. They wanted the Bronze, like Maguire and the rest said. They were happy to be playing.

I think the team that wins, the team that wants it more, is always the better team.

For those who don't get it: And by team I mean the team, not the roster.

Any news on that, btw, from the Ranger front? I wonder what his contract status in Finland is.

I never said I disagreed with BC's stance on the issue. If you want to talk politics, PM me and you'd be suprised on what you hear.

Anyways, this is way off topic (my post too, not just yours), and I will not discuss it further.

Let's talk about how Finland outplayed the Americans because they outworked and outclassed them. I'm ashamed of this team. Period.

I was just trying to show you how big of an issue this is in BC right now. No matter how much any liberal in the US may agree with us on the policy, they really don't understand the level of frustration, anger, and helplessness people feel in BC over the dispute. I was just trying to say that the fans know Kessel and Johnson have nothing to do with it, but when a hyped up US team comes into a province where the economy was finally on the rise and now due to something illegal by another country is declining again, it's the only thing that can happen. I'm actually surprised at the restraint from the crowd, I was expecting some really awful stuff, which is why a little cheering/booing feels like nothing.

Vancouver does have a bit of a complex - the Canucks have sucked for decades, we've always had a hate on for highly rated teams. People honestly shouldn't ignore that fact and blame it all on politics. This was definitely a huge part as well.

Finland just clearly wanted it more. Key guys like Kessel looked like they were playing in a midget exhbition game. Too bad, I would have actually liked to see the US pull this out at the end, but team defense was absolutely brutal.

Well that's nice, but he said THIS tournament.

They can cheer for who they want to, but they made it more political than anything. These guys aren't politicians, they're hockey players.

I can deal with good natured ribbing, but this wasn't really good natured ribbing, in my opinion.

It's called a hockey rivalry. If U.S. didn't play so dirty when losing maybe the booing wouldn't be so bad :dunno:

 some more

No country is innocent in booing another... I can recall fans booing the Canadian anthem at NHL games, I think it was an Islanders Leafs game.. I can also recall the U.S. Women's team laying a Canadian flag on their locker room floor...
So we can all sit and say fans are disgraceful or lack class but in the end everyone are jerks.. no one is blameless, and before we crucify Vancouver fans we should look at the things our own countries have done...

that being said.. the Finns are looking better each year.. they're taking up where Sweden left off it seems
