Hes literally playing a good game again. Its crazy that you can watch hockey every day and not understand system play and positioning.
He plays a responsible game but his skating will hold him back as he tries to move up.

Well yes his skating is a flaw but its not any worse than Toffoli.

He's intimidated by TC. It's like when you go out with a girl who's out of your league! He's still acting like a kid, hopefully he can become a man someday.
Hes playing a team game. Its not individual effort that wins games when youre playing on such an all-star team.

Canada seems better all over the ice. Hard to evaluate their play. Jiricek Looks a couple years away from playing in the nhl. Doesn’t have an nhl game or frame yet.

I don't think it's a problem to say that Roy is just right now being average and not playing the best hockey he could. In no way shape or form does it states how bust a prospect he is or not. Roy was picked in the 5th round. Because of effort level. Because of skating. Roy is then a DEVELOPMENT project. Him not being great TODAY means just that. Today.

But we just have to be logical. As I keep saying, Roy is playing scared. The guy might very well play a good positional game. He might very well apply some nice pressure defensively. But that shouldn't be his game. He should be more assertive. He should be providing offense by playing with McT. Dufour does the best job he can but Roy, offensively isn't helping. Czechs have been more in our zone with them on the ice. But, they haven't had HUGE scoring chances either which should say that all 3 guys play good zone hockey.

I will choose to believe that we would appreciate Roy more if he's away from McT. I guess we will never know. I also think that Kidney would give better hockey than a few players right now INCLUDING Roy. But we will also never know.

I guess I will always hvae to use this disclaimer...Roy isn't a bad pick. He's actually a GREAT pick. At draft day, I thought he was BPA at the 3rd round. So I loved that pick at the 5th round. But right now, he's overwhelmed. And it's fine. Still young. But to have a better development, he will have to up the intensity. And up his skating. 2 things that made him fall in the 5th round. 2 things if not developed that will NOT make him a NHL'er if it doesn't improve drastically.

some on here who follow the Q really wanted us to draft him his draft year. At lest we got Farrell 126 and Dobes 136 that year.

My take on Dufour at draft day....with a clin d'oeil towards my friend Trevor....lol. Working WAY TOO HARD at picking obscure players, sometimes, MOST of the time, don't pay off. Jack Smith....people should just be careful when it's time to analyse USHS statistics....a majority of huge scorers out there never amount to anything. Can't wait to see what Smith does with UMD....at least it's a good program.

And that's another guy that we can say that he's playing a really ordinairy tournament. But in no way does it mean he's a bad prospect. Give the guy 2 more years and he's a stud. But right now..eesh...it's going way too fast. Yet again, incredibly normal. Not a tournament for guys like that.

It should though say A LOT about what Nathan Gaucher is able to do. Clearly the frame helps....but he's really effective.

No, hes absolutely not lmao. Thats a ridiculous notion. If he was Id hate him as much as I hate Drouin. He actually uses his body a lot, hes just not a Begin headless chicken.
I don’t see that hunger for the puck, a Drouin trait.

I’m sure you’re correct, I’m sure he uses his body at some point, but it’s few and far between., let’s just say he’s not standing out.

Sounds like youre criticizing Suzuki at the 2019 WJC. Not every player needs to have that hunger.

Also theres no one that stands out on that squad, the fact that a guy like Roy, whos been the man offensively for his whole career, can play a system game and put his shoulder to the proverbial wheel of success should be a plus.

Its a bit crazy how Roy is seen around here. Its litetally the same thing that was said about Suzuki 2.0.
