That Senators 2020 draft class is one for the ages! Jarventie and Greig are two of the best players in this summer WJC. Nice complementary pieces to Stutzle and Sanderson in that same draft.

Five of six goals so far in this 4-2 game have been scored on the PP. The PP success rates are sky high in this tournament.

EDIT: 6 of 7 goals now on the PP. What a horrible call on that last penalty to Germany.

1-0 Sweden.

Teams like Germany and Latvia can't afford to take penalties against stronger teams such asFinland and Sweden. Powerplays have been almost automatic goals in this tournament.

Why the f*** does TSN keep switching channels. Now I'm stuck with Flynn.

Try TSN's website. Their programming is available for streaming. I don't know if you'd only be limited to the TSN channels you have on your cable provider or if you're okay to watch any of them without an issue.

The small crowd size for quarter-final games is astonishing.

If it isn't Canada, people don't go.

That is the case when Canada hosts the WJC during it's normal time of year. Add the fact it's in August and people are even less inclined to go to a hockey game.

This is why I appreciate the European cities that host this tournament. The atmosphere is better and you have more fans at games for more teams. It helps that travel between European countries is easier so you have more of those fans who travel to the host country. The only thing I don't like about there is that the games are earlier and I won't get to watch as much.

It's never anything close to this empty on quarter-final day. I never thought they should have this tournament in the summer (I knew key players would be missing) but the purpose of this tournament was for IIHF and Hockey Canada to recoup revenues that were lost when the holiday tournament got canceled. Many factors for empty seats include summer time, the scandal, crazy ticket prices, the loss of sponsors to promote the tourney etc. Even Canada games have had tons of empty seats.

I also liked the format better when the top team in each division got a bye and the QFs were cross-over games of 2A vs 3B, and 2B vs 3A. It made for better match-ups after so many lopsided games in the round robin. Latvia and Germany have held their own today but we'll see how Switzerland and Czechia do tonight. I think they'll both get blown out.

So Kapanen was voted after Luke Tuch and now he's doing nothing at the wjc things are looking grim.
