I wouldn’t mind Kasper with a late first depending who’s available.

Russia already walking all over Switzerland

Russia 3-1 over Swiss at end of 1. Swiss goal was terrible too.

Yurov played a regular shift and picked up a goal & an assist. He looked good, so strong in neutral zone and along the boards, controls the puck well.

I don't think I've seen a draft list that has him in the top 3.

In the 1st intermission today Bob McKenzie showed his top 10 draft eligibles playing in this tournament based on his conversations with NHL scouts. Jiricek was #7 and that was pre-injury. This list doesn't include players not in the WJC like Savoie, Geekie and Mirochnichenko (or however you spell it).

I don't know the gkid but let's not do a JK again plz

This year is a minefield, I would hate to be the Head Scout.

They're all kind of like this, tbh. If you're 100% confident in your evaluation on any prospect that isn't franchise/generational level, you need to check yourself.

Need to identify the traits you like and want and have a plan for anyone you've drafted to get them to their upside.

He is like Olofsson. Good on draws, good positioning, average hockey skills.

Olofsson has really good skills, problem is they just disappear whenever they are required. I really have no f***ing clue with that dude, he was a trap. Good size, good skating, good skills, good production in a men's league as a draft eligible.. and the dude just f***ing never uses his tools/traits since he was drafted.

And where was Seider ranked in his draft year? I dont recall one list having him top 10. I had him 4th OV.

Kasper likely going mid first; he isn't gonna be able to show much with Austria but strong skater, strong compete, got offense to his game.

Not necessarily a late one. If they get a first for Chiarot, it will be in the 22-32 range.

I agree that he has a lot of tools and he is pretty impressive in Sweden this year. Sad that his team won’t be able to support him much this tournament.

Though we all know how players can be pretty interchangeable in that zone, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he is there around 20-25.

He would be a good add, that they go 1D/1F or 2F he could be a great value pick. Where it’s more forward heavy at top of draft a lot of defensemen are rising on the board in the second half of the first round.

I want 3 firsts so hopefully we can find a way to grab Kasper, Mesar or Kulich

He's dynamic when he has open ice when that ice is taken away he tends to not be able to do much. I question his abilities at 5 on 5 in games where there's actual checking. He becomes invisible. There's been a few games where I had concerns how well he translates to NHL. A lot of his highlights are off PPs. He has obvious elite skills, but I don't see an NHL-type game from him ... yet.

However, the effort is always there. He plays at a high pace, the skating is outstanding, and his shot/release is elite.

We need to start drafting HARD SKILL over the soft skill we’ve been hampered with. There is absolutely no reason not to get that combo in a top 5 pick….
unless Bedard. :naughty:

Hopefully he won’t be sidelined for a long period and will resume play Czech league.

I’m starting to be in a zone where if it’s not Jiricek, I wouldn’t pick any other defensemen with that top pick. I like Nemec poise and puck movement abilities, but if it’s not Jiricek total package I rather see the team go for a forward.

And does Lambert when it’s not on the rush worries you in any way ?

Seems like an eternity since last time this team had multiple first round picks. I’m always so jealous in every draft I see a team with multiple choices in the first round.

I went in wanting the Habs to either draft Nemec or Jirichek so this injury to the latter doesn't bode well for him in my eyes. I like his reads puck skills but he's Yamamoto level weak lol. Maybe that can get better. But I'm still high on Nemec

These early games have really solidified the notion in my mind that Lambert should be playing somewhere else than with JYP next season. If I draft him, I put some pressure on him to spend 22-23 with the Saskatoon Blades or at least to get a transfert to another team. There's an offensive potential that could really trive in the right environment.
