It's not that bad yet, major players miss every year for various reasons. Wouldn't be fair to those who followed the protocols with the aim to actually get on the ice for this tournament this year. If we see a significant uptick in withdrawals from those few names then they might consider it but I don't consider that realistic at this point. This tournament will happen, I'm sure of it.

What does this mean? Do you take issue with my comment? Is my reference to known medical repercussions of this novel virus just part of the grand conspiracy that flies in the face of your social media education on the topic?
I want this tournament to happen more than anyone, but someone saying that it's ok to turn the wjc bubble into a covid-fest is sickening.

Sweden already lost one superstar and our 1st center due to covid19. More players are going to test positive. Teams might not even dress a full team when tournament start.

At this point just cancel the tournament. The hockey wont be played on even premises.
The remaining kids will want to compete. The TV revenues cover the costs. The bubble environment is proven to be safe. The tournament will happen, we will watch, and the kids will prove (with their play) that the best team there will win.

There should be no testing of the players. They are all healthy 18-20 year old 1% athletes. There’s no reason to think they are at any risk. I’d rather not further ruin this tournament for a few health bureaucrats to be satisfied that they ruined what would’ve ended up being the most satisfying hockey experience of many of these kids careers. Undoubtedly more will get added to the list without good reason.
Within the NHL and NBA bubbles the participants were tested daily. Literally thousands of tests were administered. Were there any positive tests?
The bubble works.

If you disagree with him, fine, but your post was over the top. He's entitled to his opinion without being attacked.

I definitely felt that the biggest challenge was getting into the bubble. If Covid does somehow get into the bubble in a meaningful way then you have to worry about the tournament getting nixed, but these few isolated individual cases tend to get blown out of proportion and shouldn’t cause any serious threat to the tournament.

As long as teams follow protocol/the rules, everything should be fine. Just NO cutting corners. If a team cuts corners / cheats and brings the virus into the bubble, I'd ban them from not only this WJR's but the next.

It was certainly not over the top, and I restrained myself if anything.
"Opinions" which are contradictory to known medical and scientific facts are called falsehoods; the perpetuation of which are a big part of the reason why we are in this mess in the first place.

Your response wasn't over the top but you took exception to my :thumbd:?

Cool.

Of course. I know this playbook well. If someone has a different view than you, they are anti-science. Next, my views will be dangerous because you disagree with them.

Keep going and exposing your intolerance for everyone to see. Why don't you not restrain yourself and give us your real view?

I don't recall Canadians whining that the tournament should be cancelled when Formenton got injured in camp thanks to a bad coach. We sucked it up, watched Tim Hunter piss away a chance to win a medal on home ice, and supported the team. We even had a pretty nasty bug hit the boys last year in Ostrava, but we managed to power through.

It's cute anyone thinks the tournament organizers care much who wins or why. The proceeds from this tournament fund grass roots hockey programs all over the world. It's already going to be not nearly as profitable as usual without fans.

There's a lot more at stake here than some fool on the internet's misguided notion of fair.

Sweden’s coaching staff now out with Covid. This isn’t looking promising.

My question what Sweden has done differently than other countries? I mean there was supposed to be a friendly matches between Sweden and Finland but it got cancelled because Swedish team had players infected with covid.. And now they have players again sick with the disease.

The players have commitments, their clubs can't be expected to lose players for months.
I dont think months is realistic no. Never said this either. They knew the timeline of this and bringing the players into camp when it is so close that any positive rules them out is nuts to me. Start it 2 weeks earlier or something but there should have been a contingency for the obvious positive cases that were going to happen.

Regarding Finnkampen: Two players tested positive. One was a false positive, the other was actually infected.
