ASP is such a Penguins pick. Hopefully he’s the BPA because I don’t see us passing on him. Maybe he gets picked before us…

I`m good with quite a few from this list and hoping others drop

Barlow, Yager, Reinbacher, Leonard, Wood Danielson, Perreault and maybe who knows if we win the lottery a Michkov or Smith

I'm not planning on winning the lottery, but sometimes dreams do happen. as some recent mocks are starting to come in there has been some changes. Yager didn't play in the u18. and it seems that his stock is dropping a bit. that would be fantastic if he fell to us. i'm starting to develop a man crush on him which will only lead to having my heart ripped out.:(

ASP looked surprisingly strong/balanced despite his size. That was against other 17 year olds of course but still, he didn't have trouble winning battles or getting pushed around at least amongst his own age group.

Probably projects to be one of those shorter but stockier D like someone we know.

Yager would be a player I'd keep our pick for.

Simple. Pick someone with an 8 or higher rating in the skating and hockey iq categories.

Not sure but I heard he gets jiggy wit it.
They can bribe him to change the spelling of his name.

I would be surprised if a great U18s bumps Stenberg that far up the rankings. Couple other Swedes had great tournaments last year but still went in the late 1st or 2nd about where they were ranked previously.

Somebody will fall through the cracks and make a lot of teams/GMs/scouts look stupid in like five years, they always do. Just hope the Pens are the team to luck into landing that guy--though with their track record regarding pro and amateur scouting in recent years, not optimistic.

Also not sure we want someone like that.

We either need an immediate impact player or someone that we trade.

that would simply be a trap for us to step into. making us even worse than we are. take the guy with the most upside and hang on for dear life. (Unless there is a massive over pay) refusing to take a step back so you can leap forward is what put us in the mess we are at in the first place. if we would have kept those high picks those players would be being funneled in as we speak. or traded our older players for something, rather than letting them walk. even if was just for picks we would be soooo much better off.

Not if those players were selected by JR, as Poulin and Kapanen can attest…sorry but we’d be in no position to ”leap forward” with two more of those selections lol… now if we could select a Pastrnak, then sure…

This team isn't going to be bad enough to bottom out for at least 2-3 years.

They are structured contract wise to be a competitive team. Makes way more sense to deal the 1st for a 22-24 year old player you hope can pop and then move again for assets when Malkin's contract is done and Sid is retiring.

that's the beauty of drafting kids. you never know for sure till they have time to develop. but the more tickets you buy the greater the chance of hitting it big.
