I mean after having a lineup of mostly defensive d with pedestrian speed, it is nice to have some speed and outlet passing, not going to lie. I think Perunovich ends up being the best of the three(even if he’s the weakest skater in the bunch), but I don’t doubt Deangelo getting a contract here to be a bottom pairing player next year, and Boqvist potentially being a 7th D next year. Or they can all end up sucking shit. Regardless, these are risks worth taking when the cost is this low.

I chimed in with the same comment on the main board thread for this pickup - absolutely nothing wrong with this move. There's still upside, no harm in seeing what we can get out of him. 8th overall in 2018.

Not bad...also for playing a full game where Mayfield only played 40 minutes, Maury Perunovich played an eerily low event game according to this chart. That's not a bad thing by any means at this juncture, K.I.S.S,.

After two games, I can totally see why he hasn't been able to stick in a regular role and why his offense shut down in Columbus once his became a 5-7 Dman for them.

This said, in our situation, he should be totally fine. Better than the other options we have and there is clearly a puck-moving component here that is perhaps even above league-average here.

Seems to really creep up into plays. That can backfire, of course.

It absolutely can, but I’d rather have that kind of backfire than defensemen playing too passively allowing for easy exits which eventually lead to extended D-zone time
