If the Blue Jays do not add another starter in free agency, Jason Hammel could be an interesting name. The Royals might be willing to include a prospect or roster player (Maurer for example) if the Blue Jays take his whole salary. I’d rather leave Biagini in the bullpen and Hammel should be able to give you 2 ish WAR out of the 5th spot. But, I also think there are plenty of options in free agency that can be had for cheaper or the same price, so we’ll see how it plays out.

The Dodgers approached the Red Sox earlier this offseason about a trade that would’ve sent Yasiel Puig to Boston in exchange for Jackie Bradley Jr., reports Alex Speier of the Boston Globe. The Sox, valuing Bradley’s elite glove and extra year of control (three years to Puig’s two), “quickly” declined the offer, and talks between the two sides never went beyond that stage.

I proposed Pillar for Puig/Pederson prior for these exact reasons. I wouldnt mind going to them to propose Pillar for Puig.

Very similar in value. Bradley bats left and has more value in his bat plus is 2 year younger but i assume that is why the Red Sox werent remotely interested. Also they dont really need OF help plus trading a CF for a RF doesnt help them as they have one of the best OFs in the league.

I am not very clear what's the game plan and what direction we are going in

To compete or to rebuild or both

I dont get why this is a question for people. Management has made it quite clear a few times that they plan on competing in 2018.

I don't remember anything close to that happening, unless you mean before he committed to playing baseball when people were questioning whether he would ever give up football. Otherwise, he's basically dominated since day one.

correct, the majority had given up on him as a prospect, feeling that it was too late to recover even if he did hive up football.

the gameplan is to halfass it. as it was from the start, and as it will be as long as these guys are in charge.

these guys will never go All In on anything. it's not in their dna.

I don't know how anyone can come to any conclusions about the off season when it hasn't even really started yet. If you were grading off seasons right now there would be a lot of Incomplete's across the board in baseball.

If you want to shit on management at least wait until spring training roles around otherwise you look like someone with an agenda to push.

Jays just got Solarte.

Not a fan of the target. Hopefully the price is right.

Solarte has largely been a 3B in his career, but essentially played 2B or SS for all of last season

1.5 WAR switch hitting middle infielder who plays good defense. I like these additions but all depends on the price. Went from 2 negative WAR player to 2 positive WAR players for the same price in terms of payroll. Has three more years of control.

Hopefully the price is right.

Apparently its for Edward Olivares and a smaller second piece.
