Winnipeg Jets, village burning

something in the water in Winnipeg for the first half of seasons

last year they were first in the Conference in mid-January too (although, this time its the entire league)

The difference (hopefully it holds up) is that last season's first half was smoke and mirrors. The team was getting outshot and outplayed nightly, but was being bailed out by great goaltending. It wasn't sustainable at all and the roof caved in after the all star break.

This season, the Jets are dominating opposition, defensive structure is incredibly sound, goaltending is, as per usual, fantastic in the 'Peg. While the roof could cave in on this, it looks incredibly sustainable this season. Personally I look forward to the potential of an all canadian west final (Edm-Wpg would be incredible in my books)

Teams with shit goalies always seem to dock teams with great goaltending. I had to laugh at the post you replied to. oilers fans have 1 trying to discredit the nucks all year based on nerd created algorithm's and the first post I read in this thread has one using the he same bull-shit for the the jets.

All I know is as someone born in Winnipeg but raised in White Rock, I'm loving the fact they are 1-2 in the west and have the 2 best goal differentials, wins, regulation wins etc. you know the actual important stats.

Even more important thing this season for the jets was not only getting rid of PLD but crushing the trade as well as having pending UFA's commiting to Winnipeg after other fan-bases constantly shitting on the city. Winnipeg may never have the cache of Vancouver but it speaks volumes that players that end up on the jets are choosing to stay.
It has to be the Gondola pizza lol
LOL!
Don't forget Chicken Chef and Red Top.
Just got back home from 2 weeks in Winnipeg visiting family over the holidays.

Please don't let the first half of this post be the future for my Canucks...

Rick Bowness is a top 10 coach in the NHL. Just too bad Chevy waited a decade to get rid of Maurice.

The Jets are benefiting greatly from the player development model that existed under Maurice.
His success in Florida shows that it was not his ability or systems that held the Jets back, but rather a room that he lost. All coaches have a shelf life and Jets fans should be pretty happy that we got to watch such a competitive team during most of Maurice's tenure. I think Maurice was a great coach until the lockdown season. That's when the Jets should have moved on from him along with Wheels.

That being said, what Bones is doing with this group is almost legendary. The buy in from that dressing room this season is a sight to behold, but I don't think it was possible without removing the two main players moved after last season.

After what Chevy got for the PLD trade, PLD wanting out of the Peg was a blessing in disguises and maybe the best thing to ever happen to the Jets.

Bowness is a really good coach but I agree, Wheeler and PLD leaving last summer was the biggest factor in revealing the power in WInnipeg.

I would have done a PLD for Villardi trade one for one but the fact Winnipeg got Iafallo and Kapari on top is unreal.

Yeah the fried chicken is better than those two, but it’s not that hard to beat.
Where is the GOOD fried chicken in this city??
I can’t find one.
But!! Years ago, there was a little cook from the VIA rails, Irish kid no less, made the BEST Jerk chicken I ever had.
Where?
Boogies on Main of all places!

....Salisbury House, and Dairi-Wip too! Still say Winnipeg per capita has the best food scene in Canada.
Dairi Wip is closing... or has already closed.

Ugh! Why go to Chicken Chef??
That’s like the Dollarama of sit down restaurants lol
I've always avoided Chicken Chef... big time. However, we were convinced to go to the location in Island Lakes. It was very nice inside the restaurant (for a Chicken Chef) and the food was way better than what I remembered the couple of other times I had tasted it.

Don't forget about that 2nd Round Draft Pick we get to use this summer too.

The sit down chicken chef on Portage Ave W is really nice too. Family home cooking feel with homemade pies and other desserts.

Unless new management has tainted it, I haven't been there in...10 years maybe.

This. Mom and I always order from this one specific Chicken Chef in Island Lakes only. Chicken seems to be a lot more tender here. Only order chicken from this location only.

I had to go to google to find out what a Chicken Chef was. Their logo font confirmed my suspicions rofl
