Difference between the Jets this season, compared to last is the depth that provides them the ability to play 4 lines effectively repeatedly. Last night no forwards over 20 minutes and one forward under 10 mins.
Bowness style requires it, shorter minutes spread out evenly to allow an aggressive forecheck and puck pursuit,
Beginning of last season we ran 4 lines effectively and kept our number one line at reasonable minutes. We had success.
Then injuries kicked in, our 4rth line was not good and we had to run our top line harder. It killed our ability to hound pucks, we always fell behind and always chasing games that resulted in cutting corners.
This season Jets have 5 new quality players added on our roster, our depth is at the level it requires to sustain Bowness's aggressive game plan. As long as we can continue to get the performance from our 3rd and 4rth lines, I don't see this train falling off the tracks like last season.
