Winnipeg Jets, village burning

Having watched most Jets games, my opinion is that the team’s defensive structure and buy in, combined with its elite goaltending and depth, justifies the fact that this is a top 10 team that could go deep in the playoffs. Are the Jets a top 5 team? I don’t know-too early to be certain, but I have some doubts about being top 5 in the league by the end of the year.

If Kyle Connor returns from injury and plays as well as he did before the injury, if they can get a couple solid acquisitions before the trade deadline, and with the experience the third and fourth line players have got during the season because of the injuries, this can be a solid team in the playoffs.

There must be an improvement on the PK and PP before they become Top 4 favourites though.

But, just look at this and the overall quality of teams they beat:

It would be the most Winnipeg jets thing ever to have Connor come back and go on a losing skid. Lol.

A 2nd line playmaking center and a RD and we could win the Cup.

Put up all prospects(not Rutger McGroarty tho-best name in hockey) and all draft picks.

With a 32 team league it could be a generation or two before we get this chance again.

It's ironic, Maurice, PLD and Wheeler have been identified as the "problems" yet their new teams are also all among the leagues best.

It's the Jets incubator effect. Toxic materials transmuted into gold.

This is a strong team. Bought-in, balanced. My concern with a big splash at the TDL is how that might affect the balance overall. Better a 2018 Stats / 2023 Names/ Nino type than a Lindholm, IMO. Another pesty, truculent FW who can skate forever, forecheck hard and pop one in now and then and a safe simple extra D might tip these Jets into deeper rounds.

And a functional PP and PK would be a nice in-house boost.

Winnipeg/ MINNY would be better. All those punchable faces.....
Agree, A Jets/Wild PO series would be a hateful punching match that neither team would come out healthy and making the winner of the series a easy out for the next opponent. So I'll past. Thankfully the Wild so far are doing their part and missing the PO's.
I'd rather a Jets/Oiler series where the Jets destroy the Oilers in 4.
Yes, I have not forgotten the 80's.

I don’t quite understand this logic.

Worried about affecting team balance by adding a good player. Not worried about it by adding an ok player.

English sucks LOL That looks so awkward (kind like the word awkward) but is totally correct depending on how the question in the conversation you just had with yourself was asked ;)

Well said, but I only disagree that the Jets have to make some acquisition at the TDL. I believe that should only happen depending where they are in the standing. If the Jets fall to lower top ten in the league and into a wildcard spot then changes would make sense. If on the other hand the Jets win their division, conference and maybe even the president trophy then I don't see the need for more additions. Right now it seems that their is a great culture in the room and the Jets look and play like a team playing for each other. Why take a chance to disrupt the room by bringing new players in and removing good Jet players out? As the old saying goes. If it is not broke, don't fix it.

You can only beat who's put in front of you and to me that looks like it includes actual good teams given where Colorado, LA and Boston are in the standings.

They have beaten Florida x2, Tampa x2, Colorado x2, Boston, LA, Carolina this year and have gone 28 straight games without giving up 4 goals which impressive regardless. The last time a team scored 3 goals in regulation against them was in November(They gave up 3 against Montreal in December but the 3rd was in OT).

It's really hard to beat a team if they don't allow more than 2 goals in a game, and for over a month the Jets have been keeping teams under 3 goals.
