Agreed. I'm just comparing his trajectory a year ago to today. It seems to have come down a little bit. I mean, when he started in the SHL this year, it wasn't a given that he was eventually going to move down to Allsvenskan was it?
An Allsvenskan loan is always a possibility for those guys who are too good for juniors but aren't 1st/2nd round talents who can play SHL at that age.
It's definitely a hype-killing stage of development, but he's producing solid numbers and looks pretty good anytime I watch him play.

Fair enough. My personal prospect ranking has 16 guys I think have a legit chance to be valuable players, and LDN is on it. So I'm not trying to dump on him or anything. I'm not @OgeeOgelthorpe talking about Niederbach lol. My main point when I brought him up is that I have him, Savage, and James in a higher category of prospects than the rest of that long list that was posted.

Yeah he's not worthy of massive hype, but him along with Anton Johansson are quietly showing good things imo.
I'm just happy we haven't had any massive disappointments with high picks lately (except... maybe Cossa...?). Like imagine if we drafted Lekkerimäki at 8th instead of Kasper. Oof.

For sure. I do think our top picks in recent years are sometimes underappreciated. Seider and Raymond have both exceeded their draft position so far imo, and Ed and Kasper have a good chance to do the same. Some real duds picked around some of them too, like you're saying.

I know many will disagree, but it makes a lot of sense to me, sometime this season
Walman Seider
Maata Hronek
Chiarot Edvinsson
Play Edvinsson home stay defenseman, let him clean after Chiarot mistakes.
Seider and Hronek both 2 ways defenseman, it's hard for them deal with such aggressive partner like Chiarot, but it will be totally different when Edvinsson with him

Saying Zadina is softer than fresh goose shit on a rainy day at Metro beach is bagging on the guy, and rightfully so.

Saying that I think Niederbach has a low probability of becoming an NHLer because of skating/size limitations isn't bagging on the guy. He's a lot like Taro Hirose; his best weapon is his IQ but has too many other limiting factors that are preventing him from being an NHLer.

I don't hate Niederbach but I'm disappointed we picked him in the 2nd when you look at who else was left on the table at that point. Plus, didn't Detroit trade BACK in the 2nd round twice to get him?

If you break it down Detroit lost out on Brock Faber who projects as a really solid shut-down D or Alexander Nikishin who projects as a really solid all-around defender and probably about 12 other guys in the 45-70 range at that draft that look like they'll be NHLers for Niederbach and Sam Stange.

Ha. Relax. You've bagged on Niederbach. It's fine. We all bag on players. Most of us have players we are lower on than the "consensus" or most other posters or whatever (some of us have more than others lol), and we bag on them relative to everyone else. Just own it lol. Either way, my point was that I'm not as low on LDN as you are on Niederbach :D

You and I duked it out over the prospect rankings between Niederbach and LDN but I think the worst I bagged on Niederbach was when I said he'd get rag dolled by Joe Hicketts. (And honestly, he might. Niederbach is that weak on his skates. I saw the dude get blown up by a defenseman listed as 5'8" in the SHL.)

If you want to appear really smart, you should just claim that all of our prospects are complete dog shit and will never become NHL regulars. You will be right far more often than you are wrong and it does not require that you actually watch any of them.

That's the jaster method.

Modo is currently 1st in the Allsvenskan so they'll probably get a chance to play for SHL promotion. Also Sweden has a transfer agreement with the NHL so any player under contract can still be signed. Right now Niederbach doesn't look like someone who would get signed, but just as a FYI.

Detail but saying the Allsvenskan is the "swedish AHL" is wrong. It's more like if you split the NHL in half. For example, if the ducks or coyotes were relegated to the AHL, theyd shred the league.

Niederbach being on a top team that has a chance to be in the SHL isn't too bad.
