I do think Ed is getting an unfair shake due to people comparing him to Seider. I think the fact that he is a year younger than a rookie Seider and has zero NA experience (unlike Seider had) is getting swept under the rug more than it should.

To be clear I think Ed has top pairing potential vs franchise potential with Seider. He has flaws to his game, and what I'm personally feeling is a more physically impactful JBo. I don't think he is a big PP points guy, but someone that can long a ton of minutes and transport the puck well. That is still a solid #2 dman. Give him a year or half a year and see where he is at. Him being in GR for a year is not the end of the world. It didn't kill Seider.

Gylander is off to a solid start, 30-save shutout last night. Also 2.01 GAA & 92.7% despite a 1-3 record.

Bednar on the other hand ... not so much. 8 games, 4.59, 86.8%. 6 goals allowed in both games this weekend.

I want my D-1 Bednar back... People legit had him touting as a 1st round talent before his draft year.

Dude can't help that he plays for one of the worst defense cores in the QJMHL...

Bednar needs to find a way to get on a team where he can develop and not be asked to be a miracle worker.

I posted a thread on the "By the numbers" area about the Finnish Liiga using the "new" tracking technology for all stats and i would love to hear your guys takes on the subject. And the possibility (matter of time tbh) NHL using this kind of methods for stats. And the questions i had if this (for example the lower SV% for goalies) will affect the Finnish players draft numbers.

If "advertising" my own thread is against the rules, or considered scummy let me know and i'll just delete the post. I really dont care about likes or stuff like that, just would like to hear opinions etc. and couldn't think of a better topic on Wings area to post this.

I know we only have 2 prospects thay play in the Liiga currently in Tuomisto and Kotkansalo, but yeah here goes...

Edit: I know my English isnt great and if something doesn't make sense in that long post, let me know.

I thought NHL was already using the "smart puck" technology from other provider? At least there was some plans some years ago.

Personally I "hate" the smart puck technology because they say it will beat the human eye. It won't. But together it would be a killer tool.

Btw, I live 5miles away from the Wisehockey office and was on the job interview for them once. Tried to sell this eye-test implemention idea for them but they weren't intested. Don't understand why? That arrogance was a bit odd.

Still they can't build a perfect xGoals model based on that data if you don't do eye-test correction, like was the screener really screening the goalie or not. They could have sensors on gear but still goalie could just see over the screening player etc.

Buium with 3 assists last night
Another LHD to be reckoned with soon.

Was checking out the GR pairings and it looks like Viro and Johansson are playing RH side. Do you think they remain there? Was hoping Sabrango would be able to handle that side but fir some reason, he isn't even playing a key role on the LH side this year. Real bummer, I really like this kid.

I know that a lot of the kids still have quite a ways to go, and statistically there will be some who wash out.

But it's quite the change from having zip for defense to now having so many promising prospects.

Heheh, i live 2kilometers (why are you talking about miles, cmon my man) from the office. And i have not applied for a job and never will. I don't think they are interested on the actual stats part, they just provide the tracking technology and raw stats. It's on Liiga and/or teams to do the deeper dive on the data they get, And, the way i see it is you can't get reliable stats from them, unless you have a human confirming it.

Getting rid of all the people counting stats by hand is a major mistake, because their model has so many flaws. A defender trying to ice the puck from behind the net, who happens to get it towards the opponents net gets a shot on his stats, and the goalie gets a save. Meanwhile a onetimer from the slot which is going a hair wide that the goalie grabs, won't net a shot nor a save for them. The things i like to see from wisehockey are the things that cannot be measured by human eye, like for example total distance covered by skaters, or the fastest skater.

To me its completely nuts to only rely on this new technology, and get rid of human eye. I 100% think every goalie in Liiga will have worse stats because of this, i just hope it doesn't affect their careers.

And no, that is not the case, players claimed they can feel the difference with a puck with the chip inside versus a one which doesn't have it. And on this im gonna call bullshit, and say that they should've done a blind test with pucks with and without it.

Just beautiful how stone-aged some stat sites can be.

Mazur hasn't been a Center anywhere, he is listed as LW at Eliteprospects and is playing as LW, as those lineup chart shows. And with my eye-ball-test he played as RW for USA U20.

And still some site will list him as C.

Pathetic.

If they don't know the real positions, just put a damn F, instead of misleading C.
